Garmin Australasia is pleased to announce the Oregon 550 the newest member of the Oregon series. This unit is Garmin’s first outdoor navigator tofeature a built-in camera. Also new is the addition of the 3-axis tilt-compensated compass. This will allow the unit to report an accurate heading evenwhen the unit is not held in a level position.
The 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera has 4x digital zoom and automatically geotags each photo with the location where it was taken allowing you tomark remember and navigate back to the exact spot in the future. When you connect an Oregon 550 to a computer via USB and log on tohttps://my.Garmin.com it will detect any photos.
The myGarmin site makes it simple to select upload and store photos on Picasa™ a popular onlinephoto sharing community for friends and families around the world.A built-in DEM (digital elevation model) basemap on the Oregon 550 supports terrain shading and route elevation profiles to help you estimate terraindifficulty. And the Oregon 550 includes a microSD™ card slot for optional BlueChart® g2 or City Navigator® maps. In addition you can search for pointsof interest by name or proximity to your location. Plus it contains descriptive details for features typically found on topographic maps such as terraincontours topo elevations summits and geographical points.
The Oregon 550 provides an improved sunlight-readable touchscreen display as well. Plus the high-sensitivity GPS receiver with HotFix™ satelliteprediction helps locate your position quickly and precisely while maintaining its signal even in heavy cover and deep canyons.
