How to Reset an iPad or iPhone

Factory Reset iphone

Resetting an iPad or iPhone back to its default factory state is easy with these universal instructions:

  1. Unlock your iPhone/iPad
  2. Tap the Settings icon
  3. Scroll to General and tap
  4. Tap ‘Reset’
  5. Tap ‘Erase all content and settings’
  6. You will be prompted to enter your Apple ID and password

 

To reset an iPhone/iPad’s settings but still keep your data:

  1. Unlock your iPhone/iPad
  2. Tap the Settings icon
  3. Scroll to General and tap
  4. Tap ‘Reset’
  5. Tap ‘Reset all settings’

 

To soft reset an iPhone/iPad (eg: say the screen has frozen and you want to reboot):

  1. Hold the power button and home button down at the same time until your device turns off and the Apple logo appears
  2. Let go of the buttons – your device should be working again

 

To reset your network connections (eg: WiFi/Bluetooth networks and passwords):

  1. Unlock your iPhone/iPad
  2. Tap the Settings icon
  3. Scroll to General and tap
  4. Tap ‘Reset’
  5. Tap ‘Reset Network Settings’
