Best STEM Products of 2019 at PB Tech

STEM skills (science, technology, engineering, and math) are essential in order to foster creativity and problem-solving in young minds. Opting for devices that help develop these skills encourages children to explore, examine, and be curious about the way the world works — ultimately helping to build confidence in STEM fields for the future.

Not only will science come alive through learning about science concepts from a young age to coding programmes with robots, but STEM products are also heaps of fun, interactive and provide a collaborative learning environment — a win-win for both teachers and young students.

We have compiled a list of the best STEM products of 2019 at PB Tech and have picked out our favourite features, which devices they're designed to work with, and what each product teaches students. This is an awesome read for educators new to STEM, or for those feeling a bit lost in the world of STEM and Makerspace robotics.


Makeblock is well known for providing STEM products that encourage hands-on learning and stimulating key skill sets like programming and engineering. Makeblock has recently brought out some great STEM products that have become big favourites with our PB team through there amazing design and interactive learning experience on offer.

First up we have the Makeblock HaloCode, which is simply a wireless single computer board with built-in Wi-Fi.

Designed for programming education, its compact design integrates a broad selection of electronic modules. Pairing with block-based programming software mBlock 5, HaloCode offers all sorts of opportunities to experience AI & IoT application with just a few clicks – making creation easy and rich of learning for young students.

HaloCode has 12 RGB LED's, a Touch Sensor, a Motion Sensor and heaps more cool features, so students can let their creativity loose and use these features to build an interactive rainbow lamp, create motion sensing games, interact with the Sprites of mBlock 5, and even make themselves motion-tracking wristbands!

Additionally, for a more advanced learning experience, you can switch to Python coding with just one click, which changes the coding blocks in real-time so students can check how their programmes look like immediately. Also, teachers can use Python mode to help teach relevant content on coding and programming in the classroom.

The Codey Rocky & Neuron Education Kit combines hardware with software, allowing children to learn about programming while they play and create. Using mBlock, software that supports both blocked-based and Python programming, Codey Rocky takes children by their hands and leads them into the world of avant-garde technology with its inbuilt AI and IoT functionalities, preparing them for an AI era.

Codey Rocky features a 2 in 1 innovative design featuring Brainy Codey, which is integrated with over 10 programmable electronic modules and Agile Codey, which will allow the robot to follow lines and go around obstacles, making creation so much more fun.

The Neuron Kit works exceptionally well alongside the Codey Rocky, six Neuron blocks are included in the kit, which allows students to gain a more intuitive understanding of how sensors work.
