Laser cutters are at the cutting edge of education technology, teaching both students and teachers how to create a range of works with tact, planning, and precision. Plus, they’re a whole lot of fun so you can be sure that any lessons involving the laser cutter, are lessons your students will probably look forward to!
Laser cutters can precisely cut and engrave a variety of materials like textiles, plastics, wood, rubber, cloth, glass, and more! Laser systems are fairly easy for students to learn how to use. Designs are produced in a vector drawing package, sent to the machine, and the laser system does the rest. Its ease of use and versatility make laser cutters a big advantage in schools, allowing students to get creative with a wide variety of materials.
This year, we introduced the Makeblock Laserbox to PB Tech so that our education customers can get access to this fantastic technology for their classrooms. Specially designed for education and creation, Laserbox reimagines and redefines laser operating performance by the use of a high-resolution ultra-wide-angle camera together with AI visual algorithm. The machine can auto-identify any official material and then set up the cutting-engraving parameters accordingly. As a pioneer, LaserBox redefines smart laser cutters by enabling users to easily bring what they draw into tangible items. It makes laser engraving accessible to more people and encourages everyone to bring their designs to life.
In addition to the supplies, each Makeblock Laserbox includes 15 structured classes and a gallery of projects. Throughout the well-designed curriculum, students will learn about the fundamentals of laser technology and build a basic level of industrial design proficiency. The curriculum has 3 parts: basic knowledge, structure learning, and project learning. Whether for personal creation or classroom projects, these materials act as a source of inspiration that can be tailored to suit the learner’s needs.
With Makeblock Laserbox, students can bring their creation from sketch to life in just 3 steps. Featuring the AI visual algorithm, Makeblock Laserbox can follow the pattern drawn on the piece of material and program the laser pathway automatically, no operating software required! Just cut or engrave at the click of a button!
Makeblock Laserbox features an advanced video recognition function that allows students to have hands-on creative control, letting them cut or engrave where they want. Its built-in 5 MP ultra-wide-angle camera shows a preview of how the design will look on the material. Simply upload the design using the Laserbox software, and position it exactly where you want it with a mouse or touchpad.
The powerful and user-friendly software (available for PC only) developed by Makeblock will enable you to insert JPG, PNG, BMP, TIF, DXF, SVG, CR2 files or design with the tools provided with Makeblock Laserbox. It can plan the optimal cutting and engraving pathway for each project. Before cutting, Makeblock Laserbox allows you to preview which paths it has plotted. It also shows the status of your project in real time, as well as the remaining time of the current job.
With Makeblock Laserbox’s compact size, it can easily be placed in the classroom or home without taking up a lot of space. Makeblock Laserbox and the smart smoke purifier can be connected with just one cable and one pipe. Once the power is turned on, it is ready to use, no more complicated set ups!
Zero emissions. Equipped with a smoke purifier, Makeblock Laserbox is totally safe for classrooms and even your home. The smart smoke purifier automatically opens, and adjusts the volume according to the working status of Makeblock Laserbox, which ensures eco-friendly ventilation. The filter for smoke purifier can also be easily replaced.
Auto pause function. Makeblock Laserbox stops working at the same time you open the lid, completely safe to use, even for children. When you close the lid, resume the project by a click of the button.
Early warning systems. Monitored in real time by collective high-performance sensors, Makeblock Laserbox has multiple safety notifications that immediately alert you to issues like overheating and water-cooling system errors.
Last but not least, Makeblock Laserbox is CE, FCC, and FDA certified. The laser has been classified as a non-hazardous Class 1 laser by the FDA.
With complementary courses, simplicity and ease of operation, and multiple safety features, Makeblock Laserbox is a powerful STEAM education tool for both the classroom and home.
