Tried it out of the box but no luck. However it worked very well once you download the right drivers (Prolific Driver). But it was easy to download and run the driver so not too much of a problem.
What can I say? It does its job as a USB to Serial adapter. Letting me do the serial things I need to do talking to my Linux and Windows machines and embedded server (Combined with a simple NULL modem adapter). Windows 10 was a little weird, I had to jump around a bit but managed to get a driver from Prolific Technology's website as Windows built in driver didn't seem to like it very much. Linux however worked straight out of the box, Arch Linux to be more specific.
For anyone interested in exactly what type of chip this uses. For my one I have a Prolific PL-2303 RA chipset (Which was checked with Prolifics Check Chip program). Which is no...view more
We have gone through about 40 of these all have been ok
Inexpensive, seems to be well-made, worked right out of the box (with an old RS232 device that had a reputation for being tricky).
Easy to use after you download the right drivers (Prolific Driver). Google it. The cable is made well! Good quality. Recommend purchasing
It may need prolific driver which is available online.
An important interface for connecting a UPS to pc. it works perfectly
This is the cable I had to purchase to use with the Garmin PC interface cable which has a 9 pin female plug. The USB to serial Converter ADPDNX0810 has a 9 pin male plug. Although both photos show the plug with holding screws they still join up OK.
Both staff I met knew exactly what I needed, thanks
Works right away out of the box!! Thank you!
This USB-RS232 actually gets the voltages correct, loads on everything including Raspbian and OSX, and costs less than some that don't get the proper RS232 levels. I can recommend this on both performance and price.
Using this to communicate with a FPGA development board for a uni project during the lockdown. Plugged it in and it just works for USB to serial communication. Nothing much more to say i guess.
