The plug isn't loose at either end, using it as an adapter for a US 45W plug and it works fine. The adapter functions as one would hope. However, it is very large, probably to accommodate British plugs. If I were able to purchase a smaller adapter for US style plugs, I would do so in a heartbeat. The adapter functions as one would hope.
