This product has three settings but only one of them is really usable. The first one sounds like a house alarm, the second like a fire alarm and the third more like a doorbell. I have set my one sensor to the doorbell sound but if you need more sensors around your property I wouldn't buy this as the other two sound options are awful. Does the job okay. Not perfect. Purchased out of necessity, and admittedly, options not that varied (i.e. hub-less options). However. I already own a doorbell unit by same manufacturer, so had NO reservations buying this, because the doorbell (wireless), has functioned without issue since day I bought it, over two (maybe more?) years ago.
(Note: Biggest problem with the bell? Is getting people to blimmin use it! Even WITH a bright red 'DO NOT KNOCK' sticker - and separate 'PRESS BELL' on the button unit).

The sensor and receiver (besides being sans batteries) are set up to go out of the box, sensor paired with Channel 1.
However, after checking the different tones assigned to each channel, I decided to re-pair the sensor to Channel 3, as it's the least 'in your face' alert of the three channels. Of note - the alerts per channel are static, i.e. there's no way to change them. A downside, yes, though no deal breaker.
(And re the door chimes? Personally, there's only two I'd pick).
However. Each channel can accommodate up to 15 sensors - personally, I can't imagine needing that many, though pairing all sensors to the one channel is a decent workaround re un-changeable alert chimes. The downside with that workaround? If wanting to distinguish sensors based on location, when all are paired to the one channel? Obviously you can't - using one channel means you can't tell which location monitored is being set off. Not a huge issue for me, though maybe someone might need to bear in mind when making decision to purchase.
Another downside - I had hoped my existing doorbell could be paired with the one receiver given same manufacturer. After trying (unsuccessfully), called customer service and was told no, they cannot be paired. Again, no deal breaker - it just would have been nice to be able to, thus only have one receiver unit.
Note: The receiver is HUUUUUGE!!! As in massive. Nothing could have prepared me for the size of it - so while it notes it's portable? Unless you're always carryng a tool/tote bag around the house/garden? It's really not that practical when constantly moving, and there's no handle. However - there are places to affix it to wall etc (and a template included for drilling holes - nice thought) - so I've made a handle/carry strap out of an unused leather bag strap, because this unit is monitoring an area in my front yard - though house/back yard are some distance away). However? The volume - in many cases/situations (e.g. sitting outside/in shed/garage, etc etc) - may/can more than make up for lack of portability - because it's LOUD. SUPER LOUD. Even lowest volume is pretty LOUD. So it's a relief the receiver can be muted (unlike my doorbell!), because there will be times you don't want this thing sounding off.
Would I purchase again? Yes, more than likely. However, in retrospect? I'd have bought the two sensor option vs one.

Purchased this unit as a constant guard for an unprotected area near my residence, this unit works well I dont have it in the weather its under cover all the time and there is no problems from guarding false physical entries to the area under guard.
