Much higher computes per second than the previous generation. The cpu sits at around 45 degrees in my system (midi ATX case with 1 fan) with the included wraith cooler idling. Its a great efficienct CPU. Highly recommended. I am using it with a 3080GTX video card. I haven't yet managed to pin the CPU to max while playing 4k games! Upgraded from ryzen 2600 to 5600x, and it has increase a lots of FPS. Super powerful and very low power consumption, runs cool and quiet with my single tower cooler. This CPU works well with any b550 or x570 motherboard and is simple to overclock. Comes with decent CPU cooler with pre-applied thermal paste. Performs as well as, or better than any intel CPU (I switched from a 9700k) currently out. Certainly a worthy upgrade if you're a few generations behind on either platform. Day to day use has been flawless with no issues. My only gripe is that it's a fair bit more expensive than last-gen at launch.

I game at 1440p so differences I noticed are small to non-existent, but keep in mind the i7 cost a fair bit more at the time of purchase. You can expect it to be on par with the 10900K and 5900X/5950X in several games at 1080p. Having more cores isn't really as important as it may seem unless you're using it for work.
