Monster of a CPU that quickly dispatches any task you throw at it.
I enabled auto overclock in Ryzen Master which took it straight to 4.95GHz with plenty of thermal overhead remaining. 5GHz should be easy with manual overclock ING.

Picked this one up on launch day. Had intended to go for the 5900x for a bit of future proofing, but it wasn't available.
This chip is much better than my old 6700, and that's all that matters. After a bit of OC tinkering, I opted in to using the Auto OC in Ryzen master, and increasing my boost range to 200MHz in the BIOS. My two main cores regularly hit 5.05GHz, with all other cores cracking at least 4.9 regularly.

Get a decent AIO if you want to manually overclock in a way that is meaningfully better than Auto OC. With my Cryorig H7, I could maintain a 4.6GHz all core OC, which was better in multicore benchmarks, but worse for single core, which is more important to me. GN reports 4.8 to 4.9 all core OCs at safe voltages, but that just wasn't possible for me.
At the time of writing, a supposed AGESA bug prevents infinity fabric 2000MHz OC from being stable, with 1900 usually being the max. I'd still recommend a 4000MHz kit for max performance, but it might be worth using an XMP profile with tighter timings and a 3800MHz clock to maintain the 1:1 ratio. That's if you're going to muck around with memory timings.
All in all, a killer chip. Some of the big tech reviewers have criticized this chip for being the awkward middle child. Not meaningfully better gaming performance over the 5600x. Relatively poor multicore value only when compared to the 5900x. For my requirements, I'm more than happy with this chip.
It is paramount that you stress test and benchmark it, and record yourself doing so. The first one I got was a dud, BSOD when going over 70 C. PB was reluctant to help, so I benchmark it right in front of them. Got a replacement anyways. Make sure to stress test it to ensure you have a functioning product! 5800X is a decent performer but if you're looking for value purely for gaming buy the 5600X and if you're a professional creator / want no compromise than pick up a 5900X when they are back in stock.
Used for about a week with no problems so far but you will need a beefy AIO / Air cooler to heat this chip as it does run fairly hot compared to the others in the stack.

I upgraded to AMD from Intel, where I was using a i57600k which was causing a CPU bottleneck on most new titles now. Upgraded to this with a new X-570E motherboard and it runs like a dream. Tested on Red Dead 2 and Jedi: Fallen Order - ultra 1440p so far with a 3080, getting 100+ fps. definitely worth the money , blinding fast over my older 2700 Ryzen CPU definitely worth the money , blinding fast over my older 2700 Ryzen CPU
The main factor that made me choose this over the 5600X was the Far Cry 6 promotion so in regard to that, it's a decent buy for a free game but having installed it with a Noctua NHU-12S, temps still shoot instantly to the default 90 degree limit under stress. Reseating the cooler several times did not improve temps, although I'm not using an AIO. AMD themselves did say the chip is meant to go up to 90 degrees but I've heard complaints about the 5800X in particular being poor for temps even compared to their higher tiered counterparts.

Manually overclocked this beast to 5ghz and paired it with some 3800 cl12 ram and its a weapon in gaming!
Even without my insane overclocks it is still an extremely capable high refresh rate gaming cpu.

Fantastic CPU, I went from a 3600 the 5800x. Amd couldn't have made it any easier to swap processors.
I did have to upgrade my cooler, was going straight to 90c in cinebench with my hyper 212 cooler master air cooler. Replaced it with kraken z73 and I can run cinebench all day long and it stays around 70c. I really wanted the 5900x but wasn't in stock and it is mainly just used for gaming so I'm not really missing out on any performance. It is a hell of a CPU for its price.

Massively fast CPU that is great for gaming and productivity. Runs flawlessly on B550 boards.
Only downside is it likes to run warm so need to make sure you have a good CPU cooler

I brought the 5800x because the 5600x was out of stock everywhere and I wanted a current gen AMD CPU asap, the 5600x is better value purely for gaming but the 5800x is actually in stock so is far more valuable in that regard...
I didn't think i'd need the extra cores but its nice to have after a month of use and for 'futureproofing'. Clock speeds are as advertised actually boosting up to 4,850mHz out of the box with no OC. I am using a Noctua NH-U12S air cooler in a mid-tower case and temps range from 65-70°C during long gaming sessions.

I thought the higher TDP than the 5600x would be a problem with cooling but had no issues so far and happy with my purchase, my only gripe was having to spend $300+ more on an available CPU and cooler
At the moment there aren't many faster CPUs available. This does the job nicely. At the moment there aren't many faster CPUs available. This does the job nicely.
