The CPU is insane. 2nd best CPU in the world and arguably the best for specific things. I got this so I can game, stream, and produce music and I won't have to upgrade for years. Upgrading from a Ryzen 5 2600 to this has been a huge step up, I love it.

This monster got 24 threads and even though you got 24 apps running on startup, it will absolutely crush those apps blazing fast.
Also, never went up past 47c on stock full load on a 360mm AIO. That is with top-mounted with 3090 heating up the whole case basically spitting heat on the rad too.

TL:DR; No ragrets on this one if you're eyeing on 5800x, get this instead!

Running great with 32gb 3600CL16 memory, the 3700X it replaced could not sustain 3600CL16 with any undervolting applied.
Runs cooler than the 3700X whilst destroying it in performance.
PBO that reaches 5.125ghz on 1 or two core without changing any other settings! 4.7ghz all core boost too.

If you want a higher end CPU with all the threads this is probably the better 'value' than the 5950X. Unless you need the extra cores of a 5950X, this thing handles everything well. I can play Cyberpunk while having a bunch of other things going on at the same time with no issues. I have a 3900x in another build and can honestly say the 5900x just feels more responsive. Completes all the tasks I through at it with ease. Photoshop, Lightroom, Video encoding. Even tried some ESXI and Proxmox for Virtual Machine testing. Just love this chip. And when I need to relax and just play some games its a dream.

I have lowered the Maximum processor state in windows from 100% to 99 and turned off PCI Express Link State Power Management. This is a slight under clock, and this did stop the auto boost from constantly peaking. Lowered the processor heat production and thus lowered the noise quite a lot. Was a lot more stable than the 3900x which was unstable when I tried this. If you cant tell I am really enjoying this chip :)

This is a very good CPU. Nothing more to say. Jumped from a R5 3600 to this so kind of forgot about the thermal aspect. Did a small boost to the fan curve, and voila! No longer need a heater for the winter ;)

Intel's 12th gen LGA1200 i7 and i9 may have snatched back the lead in some performance metrics, but the Ryzen 9 5900x is a better proposition when you look at total cost to own/operate. Compatible AM4 boards start around $115 ($315 for LGA1200), and the Ryzen 9 will stay below 140W electricity consumption (i9 12900K will draw as much as 240W, adding to your power bill).
