Xiaomi Mi Smart Robot S10 Vacuum Cleaner - White

We had a Xiaomi Roborock S50 for years (since 2018, I think) and it finally gave up the ghost after working exceptionally well for years, so I decided to look into the S10 as a direct replacement. Other brands are either 2-3 times as expensive or have issues with reliability, but the S10 does exactly what it needs to. It's a quiet, smart little vacuum that manages flat surfaces well. Our apartment floorplan is small and mostly hardwood with a few rugs and carpeted areas, no stairs or tricky changes in elevation. Other brands are either 2-3 times as expensive or have issues with reliability, but the S10 does exactly what it needs to. It's a quiet, smart little vacuum that manages flat surfaces well. Our apartment floorplan is small and mostly hardwood with a few rugs and carpeted areas, no stairs or tricky changes in elevation. It cleans very thoroughly, and the mop function is simple but effective. Like most robot vacuums, it has a tendency to miss dust in corners, but overall I can spend 5 minutes picking cables, etc up off the floor then tell Google to vacuum the house while I head out and I'll come home to a much cleaner floor. The app functionality is an improvement on the S50 in that different rooms can be assigned different behaviour (medium suction in one room, then strong suction plus mopping in another, then vacuuming twice in a third.) Battery life is also fine: it'll vacuum an entire 35m2 apartment twice on the highest settings before it needs charging.

You do need to manually empty the dustbin, fill up the water tank and attach the mop attachment, but that takes a couple of minutes at most. It has occasionally got stuck in areas that the S50 got through fine, but these can be fixed by either moving furniture a little or setting up no-go areas in the app. It might struggle with a bigger house because of the smallish dustbin, and I'm not sure I'd trust it to navigate more complex topographies without watching it the first time, but for apartments it's a dream. The one potential red flag I'd raise is that finding consumables for this model (filters, brushes, etc) is tricky as most of the available consumables are for other models like the S5/6/7 and S10+ (which is not the same model as the S10!) and it's not obvious which of these are compatible with this model. I assume this will change as the S10 becomes more popular, but for now, be careful when selecting consumables for this model.

As a result, it doesn’t dock properly most of the time, enters standby mode, and runs out of battery. My carpet is brand-new residential carpet, but the vacuum is heavy, and it sinks down, positioning it slightly lower than the dock. I’ve tried returning it to PBTech, but they refused to refund me, claiming there’s no issue. They test it on thin commercial carpet or hard floors. Works brilliantly and is even a bit of fun. The app is good and the wee vacuum sucks up an inordinate amount of pet hair (must brush the cat more often...). Mop function is also good. Super fast delivery to the south island and everything worked from the outset. Cleans our whole house (around 120m) in a couple of hours with a break for recharging and emptying. Still only 3 weeks in but more than happy with the unit so far. Works brilliantly and is even a bit of fun. The app is good and the wee vacuum sucks up an inordinate amount of pet hair (must brush the cat more often...). Mop function is also good. I was skeptical because of the low price but this little vacuum has saved me hours! A few little hiccups getting stuck as it was learning its way around, but once you pop those sections on the map in the app to prevent it going to those bar stools etc it was no worries at all, it just does it's thing. Can't get over the amount of dirt it collects either! Very happy with our 'Meryl Sweep". I was skeptical because of the low price but this little vacuum has saved me hours! It also took ages to map out my regular sized house.

I have talked to other people who have purchased this one and they also have the same issues and regret it. This is the first Xiaomi product I have had a problem with and hope it's the last as I love this brand.

Positively surprised with this robot vacuum! I have a big house, carpet all around and a dog. This vacuum has actually surprised me.
The room mapping is very good, you can add no go areas which helps keep the vacuum out of places you don't want.
I have dogs who constantly shed, I've set this vacuum up on a schedule and my house hasn't felt so fresh.

This vacuum does a great job and the app is very useful, allowing you to turn off and on sections of the house. The build quality is really nice, better than expected. It is quiet enough to have a conversation while it is running. At first it was struggling to line up the charging port while docking but this was rectified by moving the charging dock to the hard floor. I’m really impressed with it. I have been skeptical about robot vacuums in general, but this one is awesome and does a great job. A little bit tricky to set up if you have an iOS device, so read the instructions :)

Bought this on sale and very happy with it. Easy to setup and use via the app.
Our house is about 110sq m and it can vacuum it all on a single charge (just).
The dust catcher isn't huge though, so I usually break it up into sections or empty it once mid vacuum
