I bought this to replace an old Harmony hub/remote when I purchased a new TV. Unfortunately my new Samsung TV can't be communicated with over WIFI and requires infrared. Given that I have the Harmony hub in another room (next to my amp etc), I had massive problems getting it set up with my Samsung TV.
I don't think the problem is the remote though. More of a problem with Samsung TVs. I finally have it all working though and the remote is great.

I have been a Harmony user for 10 years or more now and I find the hub based products great. I have several of these companion models in my house and they work really well. Battery life is great, I get more than a year and the remote is my primary method of control rather than the app. The only down side I can think of is the keys are not illuminated in any way but you get to know the layout fast and can use it without looking anyway. Used to have a harmony remote, was a little concerned by this unit not having a display - but the mobile app config more than made up for it.
Pro's
Infrared blaster makes for much more positive control
simple intuitive buttons, that can also be customized
Cons
A few gotchas with wifi, you need to be on the same wifi for the setup at least - only an issue if you have guest wifi etc
The app could do with a little work, but it does the job once you get the hang of it

Replacement for Harmony One, easily paired with old hub so did not require my Son to reprogram ;-) I like smaller, lighter, feel in hand, and matt finish. Puzzled there seemed to be no battery or charger, but it has a button battery (claimed 1 year life) under a hidden slider. The plus is that no need to place on charger, and failure of the rechargeable battery is the reason I have twice replaced after 2-3 years. The negative is no backlights so can not see in dark and buttons are a bit crowded together, but I have learned to operate by touch. I had liked my Harmony One but the screen gesture feature meant I often stumbled upon setup commands. I was looking for something simpler, figuring can always use original remotes or app for something obscure but in fact this does all I want controlling a complex TV/Stereo/Computer system (up to 6 devices), also controlled by Alexa. Pleased with my purchase and excellent service from PB. A lot cheaper than HN price.
Had a old remote that needed line of sight and you needed to point it at the device. The new one is fantastic works thu enclosed devices and hasn't missed a beat. Setup was easy logged into my logitech account and loaded all my old devices and setup to the new device. Had a old remote that needed line of sight and you needed to point it at the device. So the application itself is a swamp donkey and the integration to Alexa is average, however it has improved dramatically with Google Home, to the point you no longer have to prefix commands with “ask harmony” to get results.
The one thing I dislike about this product is the API limitation of one per Google Home integration.
It’s worth the cost for integration of up to 8 devices in Google Home, it also addresses issues with both Alexa and Google Home startup of Smart TVs, prepare for the odd disappointment and budget on a lot of time for the automation macros.

If you’re not automating then the RF Remote notnrewuiring line of sight for closed cabinet installs is good, but I’d upgrade to the more advanced kit with the LCD UI on remote.
Agree that's it's pretty easy to setup. App could with a bit of work. Sometimes loses track but still a great prefer of kit. Have it working with my Amazon Echo. Recommended. Easy setup. App could do with improving but works well Alexa except when she decides she can't do something. But that's typical. Well worth it. Easy setup. App could do with improving but works well Alexa except when she decides she can't do something. But that's typical. Well worth it.
This is a pretty good system. The lack of line of sight is a great feature.
The only problem with the remote is that when it doesn't work (i.e. an input hasn't switched or a devices hasn't turned on), the only way to fix it is with your phone. Given that previous harmony remotes (for less money) had this functionality built into the remote, it's a bit disappointing.
but that's really the only negative in an otherwise very functional remote.

Long time harmony user who finally wore out the harmony one. I have had harmony remotes including the harmony one for many years. I am very pleased with the new harmony companion remote. Firstly as the infrared is sent from the hub (and or the external IR blaster) not the remote it means you don't have to point the remote at the devices so you can hit say the TV button to turn on the sky box, tv, amp and then change the channel to HDMI 2 after a delay and it always works even from the kitchen some distance away. You do need to know the make and model of your devices so you will have to look at the back of the TV or under the sky box etc but...view more Long time harmony user who finally wore out the harmony one. You do need to know the make and model of your devices so you will have to look at the back of the TV or under the sky box etc but it works perfectly once you set it up. New programming is done in an app via the hub so no troublesome USB connections any more. Not a fan of the remote app in real life use but you can easily change to a new activity, say Sky to PS4 from the app. Also the app lets you do more than six activities if you have a VERY complex system. Activities BTW are one button press to turn on maybe three devices and set them up with the correct inputs etc. Like watch SKy, listen to music, chromecast etc. I would buy one of these again without hesitation. I do not think the more expensive model with the touch screen is worth getting. Oh year the battery is a button cell so no charger stands and the remote is very small and feels nice in the hand.
