Cooler Master TEMPEST CMI-GZ2711 27" QHD 240Hz OLED Gaming Monitor

Big review as if your like me and like to research a product heavily before buying then as of April 2024 you will find maybe one blog review of this monitor. I took a gamble on this one and i don't regret it at all

Pro's
- Panel performs much better then expected. Colour accuracy is acceptable but would need calibration for any serious photo or video editing that requires colour accuracy.
- As its an OLED panel, the contrast is excellent and the preset picture modes work well
- 240HZ is smooth and buttery, have not experienced any ghosting either.

Pro's

- Blue light filter doesn't feel like a gimmick on this monitor, as you turn up the filter you can noticeably feel the reduce in strain on your eyes which i was very impressed with
- In my testing the response timing falls within an average of 10% of the advertised 0.03 so very impressed with this as its often over inflated on many panels.
- The monitor itself is extremely thin and looks very sleek without feeling fragile or flimsy.
- the inbuilt KVM with USB-C power delivery of 90+ watts is something that really sets this monitor apart from other 1440P 240HZ OLED monitors that use this LG panel. Great for working from home and swapping between your personal PC and work laptop (with USB C charging and display transfer)
- Unlike other monitors with inbuilt USB hubs that often can create some input lag (Phillips monitors seem to be notorious for this), this monitor doesn't seem to create any noticeable input lag in my peripherals even when i load one of the USB ports with a large data transfer in testing
- I/O is the most impressive and better then any other 240HZ 1440P OLED available on the market as of April 2024
- Even though it uses a 75X75 VESA mount, the cut-out square on the back of the monitor where the VESA mount is placed is large enough to accommodate most of the VESA adapters that have 100X100 and 75X75 so you wont have to do any weird spacing with washers

Con's
- First to get it out of the way, Cooler Master have been a little misleading or quite frankly false advertising some of the cosmetic aspects of this monitor.
- its advertised that you can customise the ambient lighting on the back of the monitor, you cant. there are about 5 preset's; red, green, blue, 2X purples and colour strobing. all pretty awful.
- its also advertised that there is ambient lighting on the "halo stand" of the monitor. There isn't, only lighting on the back of the monitor.
- You wont see any pictures of the power adapter for this monitor because its absolutely massive, that's the trade off for having such a sleek monitor without an inbuilt power supply but this thing is massive, thankfully it doesn't get too hot so i had no issues using a couple command strips to stick it to the wall behind the monitor.
- Out the box the colour temperature is a bit off so i highly recommend using the following colour temperature under "Colour Temperature >User Colour"; Blue: 84, Green:98 Red:100
- In certain image modes you lose the ability to change some of the colour settings
- Personally, the I/O on this monitor is just a little bit too low if you don't want to see any of the cables peaking out the bottom. I had to order a custom 90 degree DP and USB-B cable from Ali Express because no where in NZ does these in an "UP angle" 90 degree DisplayPort 1.4 or USB-B 3.0. Thankfully the power adapter cable is flexible enough to hide behind the monitor

Overall, its worth the money, its such feature rich monitor which really sets it apart from every other 240HZ 1440P OLED monitor and when you look at the price point compared to other monitors with the same panel, its hard to beat.
