Logitech G703 Lightspeed RGB Wireless Gaming Mouse

I had the old non-hero G703 that had "the scroll wheel issue" so I upgraded to this one.

Its a solid mouse with the same look and feel of the standard G703. The stats say its slightly lighter, but I use the 10 gram weight since I like my mice on the heavier side and haven't noticed a difference. This Hero sensor model feels like it has better build quality than the older model. I only occasionally use the mouse wirelessly, and I feel no difference to the movement response it being cabled vs wireless. Moving the mouse when it is not cabled feels quicker and easier, but not to my personal preference.

I specifically like the look of this mouse and it was one of the reasons I choose it originally. The design is subtle but not aggressive or an abomination like the G502, it could be passed off as a normal mouse at first look. The light points at the logo and the mouse wheel paired with the shades of black, give it a classy look and feel.

The click on the buttons feels nice and tactile, but the mouse wheel scroll and mouse wheel click do take some time to adjust to. When scrolling only a slight amount, it feels like you scroll in "notches", which is not a problem for my use cases. Holding it in your hand feels nice, the rubber at the side isn't squishy and adds to the overall comfort when being held. This is a large mouse and fits well into my hand (my hand size is approximately 19.5cm) .

While this mouse gets used gaming often, I use it more in general windows use, including design and software development. All round this mouse is suitably perfect for both situations.

The feet slide nicely, but you can buy aftermarket feet for better gliding (called hyperglides). I just wish this mouse had an extra button!

Something you need to be aware of is that these latest Logitech mice have had problems with the mouse button clicking mechanism and scroll wheel rotary encoders. THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE ISSUES as I still bought this newer G703 despite experience a problem in my non-hero G703. I am saying that others, including myself have had issues.

My older G703 (non hero sensor) had "the scroll wheel issue" where scrolling did not work correctly (it would pick up being scrolled in the wrong direction sporadically, which frustrated me when I was scrolling websites, documents and switching weapons in game). Others have reported "the button issue" where clicks would randomly register as double clicks, or not register clicks at all. I am mentioning it here for full disclosure so that if you are unlucky enough to experience these issues, you aren't alone and that you should RMA your mouse ASAP. I would have given it 5 stars if I hadn't experienced the mouse wheel problem on the older G703 mice nearly two years in.

Logitech was my go to device manufacturer for pc accessories, not anymore.
Designed to fail just outside of warranty with light use, terrible omron switches.
Their customer service at Logitech couldnt even tell me what mouse had more than a 5 minute warranty or what doesnt use the same useless switches.

Enjoyed using this mouse, but unformatunty the scroll wheel broke out of warranty. It appears to be a common problem that other people have been using a 3D printer to make the part required to fix it. Unfortunately I don't have a 3D printer. It's a really comfortable mouse for me and I do like it but it has started click just as I touch the right click and left which is giving me double click problems,
I do not know if it is supposed to be like this but I have owned this for less than 10 hours and I do not know how long this mouse will last as I do heavily play games everyday. Worked amazing for a year then started to do the odd double click on the left button, now a week after it is impossible to click and hold as it will 100% double click many times. I have had 4 G703, I love the shape, the weight. but after 2yrs of using 1st 2 g703 failed, both with the central wheel problem, one with left double click issue. also the metirial is really easy to peel off by your fingers. I've used this mouse for a couple of years with no major complaints. Recently however the scroll wheel sensor gets very confused and will scroll in the opposite direction literally half the time you use it. Looking online I am not the only one with this issue and there doesn't appear to be any fix forthcoming by Logitech. One would hope there could be an update to remedy the issue but if the sensor itself is failing then, aside from tearing it apart and replacing it yourself (if even possible), you've just got to deal with it. A mouse and its components should have a longer lifespan than this. I've used this mouse for a couple of years with no major complaints. It to did the same thing after a couple of months. Left mouse button doesn't always fire when clicked. I never had an issue with the Scroll wheel as others have had, although I play games mostly so hardly use the scroll wheel. Other than the button issue I really love this mouse. There is definitely a flaw with the button switches. Hard to claim on warranty because it does work unless you are doing hundreds of clicks , then you notice it. The rechargeable battery is also a major upgrade compared to using AA batteries. A single charge lasts me about a week and I can recharge it in only a few hours.

The on-board memory mode is quite useful for switching between my desktop PC and laptop. There's no slot to store the USB receiver in though, so you'll need to keep it plugged into your laptop when bringing it around with you.

The scrollwheel always dies, these mice last on average one year or less before the scroll wheel packs up, my guess if you scroll a lot on social media sites it probably makes them die quicker.

I'm reluctant to buy another G703 or even a Logitech mouse at all because of how many scroll wheels have died on me.

If it does happen you can reset the scroll wheel by turning the mouse off and rolling it up and down on the carpet, it is very strange but it works for a while at least until you need to do it again.

Other than that, it's the perfect mouse ... but that scroll wheel ruins it all. There is meant to be a new version of the mouse that fixed the scrollwheel issue, but I am not convinced it actually fixed things.
