Question:
What other kit is required to make this system work?
Asked by: Dianne on 23 November 2018
Answer:
You'll need a computer to run it. Main thing it needs is a decent video card. Most people seem to go for a nvidia 1060 or higher. Then theres additional things like the upgraded sound strap (which i hear is really worth it) and perhaps some stands for the base station units (they can sit on bookshelves and the like if you have the right layout)
Answered by: Bryan Senior on 25 November 2018
Question:
Does anyone know where you could test the experience?
Asked by: Neo on 12 September 2018
Answer:
Some games were given out as a sort of promotion, which has changed since it was first put out on the market. It also depends on where you buy the headset from also as they may have a different game compared to others.

HTC Vive

Amazing, i have had plenty of chances to try it before buying one, and even owning one was worth it, for me the best part of owning a HTC VIVE is seeing the faces of people when they have their first experience.

For people who are thinking of owning one, please make sure you run the Steamvr Performance Test and make sure you can run it, second, if you want the full experience make sure you have a room setup where you can at lest setup a 2m x 2m square for lots of room to explore the infinite worlds at you're fingertips. *(also avoided vr chat, just my personal comment)

This is a really amazing piece of technology. Here are some of my pros and cons.

Pros
Great immersion.
Amazing tracking.
Room scale.
Straight forward setup.

Cons
Buggy software.
A bit pixely.

But it is worth the price maybe my computer does not have much storage left so that might be messing with the software. I really do think you should get this if you are thinking about a vr. It is better than any other. I have tried the PSVR and it is nothing compered to this. So do get this.

This thing is insanely cool, worth every cent. you cant view this as just a monitor attached to your face its so so much more than that. its a whole new way to interact with games, it will change your gaming forever.

My expectations were wildly exceeded by the vive. You can watch people play online all you like, but until you're actually in there you'll never know the true magic. Be warned if you have an addictive personality though. I can see a lot of people losing themselves in this thing.

HTC Vive

I had high expectations for the Vive after watching numerous videos on youtube and seeing the reactions people had. I must say that those expectation were exceeded when i got one for myself. I would love to describe my experience but it is hard to find the words for how good this actually is. Every time i put this thing on i am amazed.

There are a couple of minor downsides. After a few hours it gets a little uncomfortable wearing the headset. The cord is slightly bothersome at times and there definitely is a noticeable screen door effect however none of these things detract from the amazing experience that you get with the vive.

Great piece of technology! The tracking and movement in side the Vive is perfect. A lot of games out for it already and free ones too.

Takes a bit of effort to set up. Wall mounts. Firmware updates on all devices. Etc.

The graphics are good but can be better. I recommend you have a GTX1080 card. Then you can double the graphics output via super sampling. Makes the picture really crisp!

The only issue I have is a little lens flare when some games use a lot of dark background with bright white lighting causing some flare. With the lens adjustments and contrast night mode inside steam this is almost eliminated.

Overall this hardwar...

HTC Vive - Pros and Cons.

2 February 2019
I purchased this back in October/November, but I've had extensive experience with it beforehand. I've used it every single day, and love it to bits, but there's a lot of problems too. Below are my Pros and Cons for the Vive.

Pros:

Roomscale VR: While this isn't specific to the Vive, it's the best example of roomscale.
Comfort: The default foam padding that comes with the Vive is fairly uncomfortable, you can order some much nicer leather ones off Amazon. If you need a nose rest, there's one too.

Moddability: While most people will be fine with a base Vive, there are many mods for the Vive. There's a part that blows a fan onto your f...

Great product/hard to set up if renting

24 January 2019
If you cant drill into the wall to mount the base stations i recommend getting some tripods for it. hyperkin do a pair that are really good.
Tracking is nice if you set the base correctly. room scale is fun to play.

haven't tried the oculus rift but i definitely love this one

Review of HTC Vive

21 January 2019
The HTC Vive is a great product and shows that VR is here to stay. On the upside - we have tonnes of immersion, the ability to walk around your room (with the device tracking where is safe by way of a blue / cage like effect), and the ability to move your hands around with the controllers. There aren't as many games as I would like out there, but ones designed just for VR are quite brilliant (for example, beat sabre). There are a few downsides perhaps, the resolution isn't so sharp and the sheer number of wires (plus needing power points for the two base stations) is a bit of a hassle.

Well worth it

While it does require a VR ready GPU it does run well on most games with my 1050ti (still waiting on the 1070ti) i have had a great time with this. Well worth the money
