Purchased this laptop from PB Tech Wellington last week, and I am actually blown away. I wanted a laptop that had a beefy graphics card, was fast, but didn't overheat.
Am blown away by the cooling system on this machine, as well as the speed of the i5-10300H. Stays in between 65-74 degrees under full load, which is amazing!
The RTX is a dream... like a whole other dimension, really! And the clincher for me was the almost 100% sRGB screen. While the windows UI looks a little washed out, the colours of photos and design assets in the Adobe suite are very nice - vibrant blues and accurate reds.
I actually have no complaints whatsoever...view more
Nice accessibility (rgb if your into that stuff) and a great budget gaming laptop, read my cons for how to improve your own machine and turn the cons into pros!
Fan is very loud without editing power plan
Temps will be high unless you change the power plan, base was going from 80-95c but stays at a stable 55-60c running games after tweaks
Battery life will drain fast, lasts about 3 hours doing work and about an hour paying games (always play on power)
You will struggle to keep a stable fps paying newer games like RDR2 and Dying Light at 60fps without upgrading to dual channel 2x8gb as my model was only 1x16gb, after upgr...view more
It was definitely worth my money. Despite it being a gaming laptop, I am mostly using it for regular things, and I am really enjoying using it.
I picked up this laptop a couple months ago for gaming/college, and I may be slightly biased, but this thing is BRILLIANT! The specs are AMAZING for the price, and with a bit of CPU overclocking and an external 2TB SSD, this is HANDS-DOWN the best PC gaming experience I've ever had. It hardly runs hot while under heavy loads, games run INCREDIBLY well at high-ultra, and connecting an Oculus Quest to it via Virtual Desktop makes for an INSANE VR experience. I would DEFINETELY recommend this to anyone looking for an entry-level/mid-tier gaming laptop. ACER NITRO FOR THE WIN!
Works very well and is super quick. Speakers are clear, screen looks good, runs quiet, easy to type on. Only thing to consider is that you cannot use an HDMI adapter in the USB-C port, you have to use the USB-B (3.0) port instead. Can have two external monitors connected :)
This Acer Nitro 5 is a powerful machine, it’s doing great running games. However, the sound coming from the speakers have stopped working for some reason and I am trying to get it sorted out. And a downside to this budget gaming laptop is that you have to press the centre of keys on the keyboard for it to actually send the signal which is somewhat annoying for me since I don’t always hit the centre. However it’s a great purchase and would highly recommend for a budget gaming machine
So impressed with this machine that I bought after thorough research. The i5-10300H lives up to its benchmark scores, with my own benchmark scoring at 96% on user benchmark (Which is phenomenal). The other thing is that it doesn't heat up anywhere near as much as the i7s. Stays at 67-73 degrees celcius (mostly) during very heavy loads. Compared to an i7-9750H, which I had in two other computers, this is far cooler, faster and more powerful.
Also note, the keyboard *is* multicolour RGB with four zones, with programmable patterns.
The screen is almost 100% sRGB (76% NTSC) which is amazing for a laptop with all the other specs. The screen ...view more
Used for a few weeks so far.
The CPU and the 2060 GPU in this laptop allow it to run everything like a dream.
Definitely consumes a lot of power so the battery doesn't last long, but this is standard for a gaming laptop.
