Powerful PC with poor screen and sub-standard connectivity

Like the other reviews for this say, it's very fast and handles windows, apps and racing games like assetto corsa with ease. No problems there. Great perforance for this price range. At this price range and packing this performance, something is always going to suffer and in this case its the screen which is limited to 60 Hz and has a very long response time - too long for many purposes like games. This is widely reported through many reviews, so again nothing unexpected there. However, this PC has no display port, thunderbolt, or high speed USB connectivity supporting diplay port alternative mode. What this means is that you can't connect to... This is widely reported through many reviews, so again nothing unexpected there. However, this PC has no display port, thunderbolt, or high speed USB connectivity supporting diplay port alternative mode. What this means is that you can't connect to an external monitor except by HDMI, and the HDMI supported by this PC is limited to not much more than 60Hz anyway. So you have a resonably powerful PC that you can't make use of with a decent external monitor, which sort of defeats the purpose of having that performance in the first place. The specs on the PBTechs webpage are minimal and incomplete (as they very often are). At the end of the day, it's my fault for not doing enough homework before buying. If you want at the very least average display performance and response, then keep away from this and buy an acer or similar with a diplay port.

Seems great

Had this a few weeks so haven't had much of a chance to put through its full paces. Brought for general work but also wanted power for a bit of video editing (da vinci) and the brief bits I've tried have worked really well, quick encoding and doesn't seem to get too loud (even cooling the discrete gpu and 6 cores running close to 100% load) .
Didn't buy to play games, but the kids have tried a few and runs them well with decent settings. One of the things I like is it isn't overtly looking like a 'gaming laptop' which I didn't want as I do use this in professional office settings.Had this a few weeks so haven't had much of a chance to put through its full paces. A great all rounder!

It is a very classy looking mid-tier gaming laptop that you can carry anywhere you go, not your usual gaming laptop with red all over the place(in this price range, anyway). Performance wise it is well worth the money. The screen is bright and looks smooth even though it is 60Hz. GTX 1050Ti delivers good performance for most of the current titles. My only concern is the fan noise. Sometimes it can get really noisy and even when it is in idle you can still hear the fan noise, if you pay close attention(Hopefully HP can control this by future software updates). If the fan noise doesn't bother you and you are on a budget, I do not think that...
