Features

PowerLine AV also known as Home Plug AV, transmits data on the electrical wiring and does not require any new network cables. It is ideal for connecting home network entertainment components normally located near a power outlet. Any Ethernet-ready devices, such as Broadband routers, computers, HD TV, digital video recorders, game consoles, Internet cameras and print servers can be added to a home network. All of the D-Link PowerLine AV product range comply with the HomePlug AV or AV2 certification.

How it works

With the PowerLine AV500 Wireless Starter Kit, getting whole-home coverage is fast and easy. Simply connect the PowerLine adapter to your router's Ethernet port and plug it into a power outlet to turn every other outlet in your home into a possible network connection. Plug the wireless extender into an outlet in a different part of your home to extend your Wi-Fi network to the hard-to-reach areas of your home like upstairs bedrooms, basements and outdoor patios

Extend your wired network

Extend your Powerline network by adding up to 6 adapters in total. Backward compatible with PowerLine AV, AV+.

Power saving mode comes in handy

Power Saving mode reduces power consumption up to 70% when compared with existing PowerLine Adapters.

Further to my review last year, I have bought 2 more of these, and recommended another to a friend to link his house network to an out building. In all cases they work excellently. BUT, as noted in November, purchasing the units separatelu seems impossible.

D-Link DHP-W313AV Power Line

6 December 2018
It wouldn't work as It wasn't explained that both items needed to be connected on the same power circuit. I spent hours trying to make it work, called in a Computer specialist, cost $, and then returned the product to your store.

Absolute junk, bad design and non-functional

1 November 2018
Bought 2 months ago. It didn't work. Spent ages on Dlink helpline who told me to do things that weren't in the manual. And explained meaning of lights and functions of buttons that weren't in the manual. Then said it had to be on the "same circuit". Whatever that means. So I PAID an electrician to put a powerpoint next to my router on the same electrical line I was using in my studio. Still didn't work. So I plugged them into the same PLUG on a multi-board, next to each other. They worked- kind of. The wifi signal 1 metre away was 2/3 of 5 bars. The router right next to them was 5 bars. Then plugged the wifi unit into a plug 1.5...

Works well; bit tricky to set up.

27 September 2018
This works well and solved our connectivity problems in a neat and tidy way. The set up instructions were very simple - perhaps almost too simple for me! I spent a lot of time running up and down the stairs pushing buttons before I gave up and rang the helpline, who were very helpful, giving me step by step instructions and explanations which worked well. Good value.

Most affordable and effec

17 June 2018
This is the most affordable and effective in all circumstances solution I used ever. Regular solution is like, you'll need to place a wifi extender at upper west or ground east, as a bridge, to extend the coverage. But sometimes the ideal location doesn't have power socket.

So this powerline solution offer an easier way to layout your network. Simply plug the receiver (smaller unit) to the router using ethernet cable (so you get full speed!), then place the extender (bigger unit) wherever you want!

Highly recommended produc

5 March 2018
Excellent product. We replaced a dodgy wireless hotspot with this D-Link version and have not had a problem since. It was easy to set up, everything connects easily to it and the signal strength is great.

Price was decent which is why we chose this product.

Have not found anything bad about it yet. We have used it for about 3 weeks.

Powerline Wireless HotSpo

5 March 2018
Great product. Easy to set up and has provided really good wireless coverage in a hard to access room of a large house. Walls are plaster and don't allow any signal to pass through.
