the review above from Ken T is blatantly false. This works fine on spark - and in fact they actually recommend and sell it on their website.

VLAN tagging

27 June 2018
Ken T. and Guest are both right.
If you use the Spark/Voda/etc supplied modem then plug this into that it will work fine.
BUT many people are trying to get rid of that supplied modem and plug directly into the Chorus box. Should give better performance and gets rid of one more device in your nest of routers, modem and IOT switches. Unfortunately Google WiFi cannot (yet?) do that as it does not support VLAN tagging. Few devices do and that is a shame. Firmware upgrade, please, Google?

Overcoming WiFi coverage

10 March 2018
Had fibre installed, best place was in the Garage, and while coverage was better than the ADSL in the upstairs office, it would drop-out and the USB WiFi adapter was unreliable.
Google Wi-Fi mesh system was easy to install, connected it to the current Telco supplied Router, then follwoed the simple instructions from the downloadable App.Have one device in the family room, and another upstairs in the office. Working really well.
There is still a land-line connected to this router and hence changing the Telco supplied router was not an option currently.
Very happy with the expereince.

Does what it says.....

2 October 2018
In Terms of what Google Wifi claims to do its brilliant. I had no wifi in my office until I set up the Google Wifi. Now I have connectivity everywhere which is great. What isn't so great is the fact that Google Wifi selects the band (2.4ghz or 5Ghz) automatically. So one minute your download speeds on your device could be blistering fast because you're on the 5G band, but then within half an hour in the same spot Google Wifi will select the 2.4Ghz band because its deemed the best for you. That is really annoying, unfortunately it seems standard with all Mesh networks. Would be great if you could select the band yourself. Other than...

Really pleased with this purchase. Easy to set up and manage via the app. Has improved connectivity in every room in the house, and online content streams without interruption even when all 3 of my children are using multiple devices at the same time. I can confirm that it works with Spark.

Google Mesh Wifi

11 October 2018
After reading various write ups and reviews for this product I finally purchased it, and have been extremely pleased with how good it is, and how easy it is to set up. After struggling for months with wifi drop outs, poor speeds, and devices being unable to connect (too many devices), I decided to upgrade, and after a bit of research discovered mesh wifi. With a large villa to cover it would require multiple points, and with working from home I needed a solid wifi connection. After seeing other people struggle with repeaters and various routers, I wanted something that just worked. Pros: How easy it is to set up, the app is really easy...

Works fantastically

25 September 2018
Now have super access to wifi throughout the entire house (big two level), no dead spots. Great app controls for kids access (time and content) that both myself and my wife can manage (much to their frustration!). Great that can also set up a guest network.

Took 5 minutes to set up all three units. Need to turn off wifi on existing router and then just plug in.

Little bit tricky to move Sonos system from existing router to the google mesh, but once figured out just need to manually plug a Sonos speaker into the back of a google mesh unit for reset up took 5 minutes and away laughing. All other devices migrated seamlessly.

Highly ...

Very pleased

21 August 2018
We had the problem of a large spread out house and the Spark wifi system plus an extension was not reaching all rooms. The PB Tech salesman suggested the Mesh WifI system and after a very simple process to install all of it, the whole house was completely covered. It doesn't matter how many devices are being used, they all work as expected. As there seems to be no down side to using this Google Wi-Fi Mesh System - 3 pack, I would recommend it without hesitation.

Very good soltuion

1 August 2018
I live in a three stories townhouse with concrete floors and walls, internet dead spots and speed have always been an issue and I had a Netgear Nighthawk 10! This google mesh system solved all my problems, but I did have to use 4 base stations to achieve the best outcome. Very easy to set up, the app is really great.

Just what we needed

17 May 2018
Made a huge difference (happy wife - happy life), although the thickness of our ceiling insulation is not to be underrated in getting a good signal upstairs!

Customer Questions & Answers

Want to know something about this product? Ask a question which other users may be able to answer.
Question:
Answer:
Google WIFI is not a modem. To use it, you’ll have to connect it to a modem with an Ethernet cable. This can be a standalone modem or a modem+router combo provided by your ISP - as others have already indicated, you should disable the router function of any modem+router by putting it in bridge mode and similarly disable the router's wireless access point. Then plug-in and setup Google WIFI and you're in business. Don’t have a modem? Some apartment buildings and dorms don’t require modems for broadband connections. If this is the case, you can plug the Google WIFI directly into the ethernet jackpoint on your wall.)
Answered by: DAL on 17 November 2018
Answer:
If your Spark modem has router functionality, it will need to be able to be configured to work in bridged mode (or pass through mode). This will essentially 'turn off' the router functionality, meaning that you would plug the master Google Wifi node into a LAN port on the modem/router. I have configured an Apple Airport Extreme in a similar way: Used the internet provider sourced combined modem/router as a modem only by enabling bridged mode and disabling the wireless access point, using the Airport Extreme as the Router and Wireless Access Point instead. The tech desk at PB Tech should be able to help you out with this.
