Google WIFI is not a modem. To use it, you’ll have to connect it to a modem with an Ethernet cable. This can be a standalone modem or a modem+router combo provided by your ISP - as others have already indicated, you should disable the router function of any modem+router by putting it in bridge mode and similarly disable the router's wireless access point. Then plug-in and setup Google WIFI and you're in business. Don’t have a modem? Some apartment buildings and dorms don’t require modems for broadband connections. If this is the case, you can plug the Google WIFI directly into the ethernet jackpoint on your wall.)
