Netcomm NF18MESH (AC1600) WiFi 5 Modem Router

Just like it's non mesh predecessor the nf18acv ac1600. this is a great modem sadly bad reviews on this one & it's predecessor come from a lack of understanding on the technical s regarding how to set it up properly. if you are using wifi both 2.4ghz & 5ghz channels, make sure if you buy a usb wifi adapter that it is usb 3.0 device & if a usb 3.0 cable is not supplied with it, buy one, they are like 8 bucks on pb tech female / male. also make sure you plug it into your pc or laptops usb 3.0 port then reboot your machine so when your operating system loads back up your superspeed will be enabled. you will get a link speed of 1300mbps. my...view more Just like it's non mesh predecessor the nf18acv ac1600. this is a great modem sadly bad reviews on this one & it's predecessor come from a lack of understanding on the technical s regarding how to set it up properly. if you are using wifi both 2.4ghz & 5ghz channels, make sure if you buy a usb wifi adapter that it is usb 3.0 device & if a usb 3.0 cable is not supplied with it, buy one, they are like 8 bucks on pb tech female / male. also make sure you plug it into your pc or laptops usb 3.0 port then reboot your machine so when your operating system loads back up your superspeed will be enabled. you will get a link speed of 1300mbps. my speedtest (i'm on slingshot ufb gigantic from isp to ont) gives me 670mbps dl & 300mbps upload. the 802.11ac standard does mu mimo downlink only so if you are in the modems wifi advanced settings page click beamforming transmit field and select mu then apply. your usb adapter device should be mu mimo most are these days. i only write this because these routers get a bad rap which in my opinion is undeserved. netcomm is a good manufacturer also these units use broadcom chipsets.

Inside the box, there's a small piece of paper titled "Data Privacy Statement For NetComm Wi-Fi devices" that discloses this intrusive practice. I contacted NetComm Support and received a meaningless reply: "This data collection is used to enhance your wireless experience using the latest MESH technology. Any new MESH product using this technology will collect similar data." This explanation is nonsense, as I did not consent to have my data collected nor do I need their "enhancement of wireless experience." This is plain harvesting of personal information.
The lack of transparency and inability to disable data collection raises significant ethical and legal questions about user privacy and consent. If you value your privacy, be warned that this product collects and sends your data to an external analytics company. Consider alternative routers that respect your privacy and offer clear options to disable data collection.
It is deeply concerning that a product with such intrusive data collection practices is being sold without clear disclosure on the box.

Tried to set this up as was advised this would work but to no avail. Even went online to our broadband provider but in the end would not connect even though it was saying it had.
Would have taken it back but my son used the power cord and ir fired up our old modem so apart from the cost wasn't a total waste of money.

Inexpensive, easy to set up, but weak wifi signal. I had to purchase additional satellites to provide coverage within a relatively small house. Recommended for use in one room only. I have had this modem/router for just on a week now and it has worked flawlessly. It serves the purpose for which I bought it too. Easy setup. I definitely would recommend this modem/router.
