We had very high hopes getting this as a model/router to finally get rid of the stock Vodafone modem/router. Turns out we shouldn't have wasted our money. The speed and range is fine no issues with this, but devices take a long time to connect to it and the router frequency stops broadcasting the SSIDs which requires rebooting it to fix. Supposedly a superior quality brand but stopped working after less than 18 months, would not connect to internet. Won't be buying another Netgear product. I bought this router to improve the WiFi signal in the house because the family was complaining about frequent problems with the cheap one delivered by the broadband provider with our plan. Unfortunately it turned out to be only a router so I had to keep the original one in place to function as a modem but I switched off the original one's wifi capability. My first surprise was that the wifi signal from the NightHawk was not any stronger (I used a wifi signal monitor app on my phone). In fact it was slightly weaker. One of the cool features I liked was the android app that allowed me to manage the NightHawk from my phone. I found this very convenient. The NightHawk also came with two other fairly hefty features, the Circle device management solution that provides parental controls to manage the amount internet access the kids have. I already had a separate Circle device so was very familiar with this capability and appreciated its value. However it also meant I didn't really need it from the NightHawk. The other feature was the inbuilt Bitdefender cyber-protection features which added another level of security over and above device-level anti-virus. Unfortunately, this was only a two week trial and required a paid subscription for ongoing use. So in the end this device, 10 to 15 times more expensive than the cheap modem/router delivered with our broaband plan didn't add any value to my situation.

Just google "Nighthawk R7000P AC2300 Not Listing All Connected Devices" and you'll see the Netgear forums pages complaining about this problem, and the fact that after several months, there is still no fix, or any work from Netgear as to when it will fixed.

I am currently on Fibre 100mbps and connect 103Mbps/20.8Mbps on the latest speedtest (3 tests, averaged out)

The 5ghz and 2ghz bands are super fast - much wider coverage than the awful ISP modems. I am using my R7000P as a router in bridge mode. It is flawless. No dropouts - still appears on wifi halfway down my street.

The dynamic QOS is quite helpful, lowered my pings while housemates streamed their Netflix and Youtube. It helps to set your gaming device as the highest priority.

Dont bother with the smart connect mode - its better to handle 2ghz vs 5ghz bands yourself. For example, I put my PS4 on 2ghz mode as its passing through 3 walls. On smart connect it went to 5ghz which actually dropped the bandwidth. Not ideal when you are downloading games.

10/10 would recommend. Not worth buying for the average user, but anyone who cares about wifi strength and understands basic networking will enjoy this modem.

Unfortunately this product did not work for us and we had to return it, PB Tech were amazing with fantastic customer service and did all they could to help.
