TP-Link TL-WA850RE (N300) Wi-Fi Range Extender - 1 x LAN

Easy to set up and inexpensive but unfortunately didn't extend the wifi capability and in several locations throughout the house reduced it. After trialling for several days I am no longer using this product. Not a networking expert, but found this really easy to set up. Instructions are clear and would recommend the product to boost your signal strength in those hard to reach places. I needed to hook up a small 5 port switch at the other end of my house for a TV, NAS and another PC but I didn't want to run a cable under the house. This repeater worked perfectly. Not only does it extend the wifi range but it also has a network port so you can plug a switch into it and it becomes part of the lan. Worked perfectly. DHCP, backups and a good 300Mbits speed for streaming. Way easier than laying cable. I need WiFi quite some distance from the modem. This extender makes it as though the modem is in the same room.
It had the advantage of the RJ45 plug for a piece of equipment which has no WiFi.

Perfect for extending the wifi range but has a significant speed drop. My fibre connection gets 300mbps download speed when near the modem/via ethernet cable but drops to 10-15mbps in the far corners of my home and will sometimes drop connection completey. This extender increases the speed to a steady 30mbps and has a solid connection hold. The extender seems to have a cap though, maxed at 55mbps when I used an ethernet cable. Perfect for extending the wifi range but has a significant speed drop. I bought the WiFi Range Extender in order that my granddaughter could use her school device in her bedroom.
We plugged it in, in the hall, and it worked perfectly - not only that, it also provides a convenient blue nightlight in the hall, to save us turning on the hall light at night!

I was after a low cost option for a wifi extender and actually only needed the ethernet connection so I could have a remote LAN connection.
