I live in a sleepout so my WiFi signal is always weak and gets disconnected constantly . Since plugging this in my internet now has full signal strength and I have not disconnected once. The WiFi signal is very consistent and I have no dropouts at all

My WiFi went from fair to excellent. Upstairs reception was a problem, but no more.. consistent 70-80 + Mbps. Very happy with results and price. Very easy to set up..Highly recommend. I needed to extend my Wi-Fi network after I moved to another house. My home-office is too far from the main router, so I bought this extender to get a signal in the far end of the house.
It was easy to set it up, and I placed it where it gets a strong signal from the main router, but I suffer a lot when I am on video calls although I am the only one connected to the extender, and only 3 other devices with minimum usage are connected to my main fiber modem.

Quick and easy to install and use, took me a couple of minutes. Now we can enjoy wifi in all areas of the house. The kids are excited thats for sure. I won't lie this extender was ok while it lasted. I've had the product for a year while using broadband internet. Things got bad when we got fibre internet.

Pros:
Setup was easy and the LEDs made it easy to tell if it was working properly or not. It was all done on TP-LINK's website.

Flashbangs me at night (lol)

It did deliver worse speeds compared to the modem/router but I was able to do work with it just with long download times. (Broadband)

When we switched to fibre internet, immediately the extender's range shrunk quite a lot, the speeds drastically slowed down, the actual base got quite hot and eventually fried itself (not literally). (Fibre)

Contacted TP-LINK customer support and apparently we tampered with the product and wouldn't offer any explanation why. Didn't necessarily wanted a replacement, I wanted answers and which I failed to get.

This product is ok, the ethernet port problem was probably a one off but use this only with broadband internet. A few family members of mine experience the same problem when switching/using the extender on fibre internet.

I wanted to use it to provide a wired ethernet connection on the other side of the garage - converting Wifi to Ethernet.

Advantages
1) Very reasonably priced for the function I wanted.
2) I did get it going
3) It was good that it defaulted to 192.168.0.x instead of 192.168.1.x to start with.

Disadvantages
1) It was not obvious to me that it will only do 2G. I was expecting to use 5G. This limits the speed right away.
2) TP-Link devices are way too aggressive, this was no different. They default to a very stubborn DHCP server role. As part of the step-by-step setup (which you can't skip), as soon as I changed its IP to my desired fixed address, it kicked off my main DHCP and then I had no internet to Google what to do next. The step after that (hidden away in an Advanced Menu) was the flag to turn off the DHCP server.
3) The mention of 300Mbps in the ad, made me think I could achieve that. A Mobile next to it connected to the same WAP achieves 178/100 in the ookla test. But the laptop plugged into its ethernet port only achieves 20/50. I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT IT IF I KNEW THAT.
