Ubiquiti EdgeRouter ER-X Advanced Gigabit Router

I knew this was going to be a challenge to install and it certainly was. It's very compact with low power consumption and seems to be very versatile, but if you're doing any more than a simple LAN it requires a few tutorials to get familiar with the GUI interface. Although port forwarding works using the specific menu, I could not get it working with optional manual configuration of the firewall so I could implement an IP blocklist in the rules order for those open ports. Nonetheless, I'm happy with it and have VLANs implemented successfully.

This tiny router offers pretty much anything a small business can ask for in a minimal space and power cost.
Having PoE passthrough (and also be powered by it), you don't even have to lose a power socket as you can use your existing PoE device to power it.
Firewall, smart port configuration, QoS etc. It's all there, with the famous Ubiquiti management features.
Would highly recommend this router. This tiny router offers pretty much anything a small business can ask for in a minimal space and power cost.

awesome little router. Not as straight forward to configure if you are used to your average consumer grade router. Once you get your head around it and read the getting started guide it becomes much easier awesome little router. Totally fantastic product. Very versatile, and would suit so many different setups - from home to business. Yes the setup isn't quite as easy as a consumer product, but well worth it. Brings back connection twice as fast as my old TP-Link, internet is much more stable and no dropouts. Being able to customise the unit to suit is amazing, has features you'd expect to pay $500+ to get! Totally fantastic product. The router supplied by my ISP started struggling as soon as the whole family was working and learning from home. I was getting a lot of DNS issues that could only be fixed with a router reboot. I replaced the ISP router with this little Ubiquiti one. It has been in for 3 weeks now and has been working flawlessly. I have also had a Ubiquiti wireless AP for about 3 years and that has proved to be very reliable is well. All in all I am extremely happy with the two Ubiquiti units I have. I bought this router to replace the PPPoE function on my ASUS RT-AC58U which was cutting out every day. This is much more stable and comes back online extremely quickly after a disconnection. We're using BigPipe Fibre.

Used for Home LAN setup in combination with a AC750 for about a month now.
A bit of a mission to setup but watched a few youtube vids and managed to get it up and running.

For the price this device provides high level business entry grade networking at a fraction of the cost for an overprised router from most other popular brands.
Sure its no Meraki, Fortinet, Cisco, Aruba, Sonicwall, Checkpoint. But it can match some of the mentioned and exceed nearly most other brands.
My network security and configureability just went up 10 folder at 1/6th of the price of a high end home router.
Definitally be back for more Ubiquiti stuff.

Do note its not intuitive for the average user.
And I would recommend writing a firewall rule to disable remote management however. Thats the biggest complaint I could find.

No built in option to disable remote management which is a risk.
