Ubiquiti EdgeRouter ER-X Advanced Gigabit Router

After successfully configuring this device it was working great - until I accidentally plugged in an active POE injector which fired it. Up to that point it was working fine and showed up on the Unifi network, all ports were active and operating as expected. Recommended if you are not as silly as me - though I'd also review the USG as well, since that was more than sufficient for my needs and let me replace the fibre modem. Since these devices are generally well priced and I wrote this one off as a learning experience. I would probably look at the next device up if I was to purchase something similar, only because it has more ports. A rock solid router. It replaced my ISP router which had occasional dropouts. I have no dropouts with this router. It takes a bit to set up, but online instruction videos make it easy enough. Totally awesome piece of kit.Has taken all I can throw at it; vlans, nameserver, VPN into my network, setup many SSIDs all pointing to different PIA;s. Great to know you've got the latest tech, and was easy to setup and use for me. Followed a short guide on the net to use it with my ONT fibre box, and use another wifi router as an access point, using the edgerouter to DHCP. Needs a firmware update and a little configuration in the command line to make use of gigabit internet speeds.
Definitely not a plug and play device though.
Have yet had it long enough (about a month) to see any long term problems.
Excellent deal for what it can do, if you are willing to sacrifice wireless or are using the router from your ISP for wifi. The GUI is nice enough and has the functionality I wanted for my home.
