Aargh.. didn't discover this was supplied with a USA mains cord until I was installing it at a customers site. Great product and easy to setup and centrally manage. But this was a gotcha. It's already been said that this is a great AP and very powerful when combined with other Unify products. And I 2nd that, getting great 2G/5G connection speeds.

The most pleasing thing for me was that I expected to need two but installed the first on 2nd floor ceiling of 2-storey 240sqM house and get a good connection in every corner of the house and even when I'm next door!

I've used the guest network feature so I don't have to give other our WPA key to visitors and this works okay, it's an advanced feature so takes some set up and I don't use it enough to buy an SSL certificate for the guest portal for example to make it work flawlessly but it's great to have.

Have had to reboot it once due to clients preferring 2G for some reason but it had been running continuously for 6 weeks, reboot fixed this and will monitor.

This is the single best tech gadget I've ever owned. Has sorted out any WiFi range issues from crappy ISP routers and serves a 280 square house without needing more than one AP. Really great product. I have purchased 3 of these APs to replace a mess of cheaper routers and APs that shared the same SSID in principle, but never that smoothly. This was money well spent! No more wifi drop outs, much more stable user experience. The setup is ridiculously easy, about 30 seconds to setup each device once plugged in. I configured everything through the iOS app, which is great for monitoring my network, knowing which devices are connected to what clients, etc. And yes the LED ring can be turned off. I have PoE running to this in a hallway near my front door, and it easily covers my whole 220sqm house. I can't quite believe how good it is. A TV running netflix which is about 15 metres away through a wall, and a laptop in a bedroom through 3 walls (1 brick), gets great speeds with low latency. It's worth the effort to get this mounted centrally and run PoE to it. I recommend Ubiquiti to everyone and will probably put it in my parents' and in-laws house too. I originally bought this device to install inside our ceiling to solve an issue we were having with devices at the other end of the house being cut off whenever someone streamed video near to the existing AP. Installed it on the hottest day of summer... it must have been a good 50'C up there... according to the data sheet the operating temperature range is up to 70'C and so far it has been completely stable. The controller software is very handy - lets you see what devices are connected to which UniFi APs, current utilisation, and a heap of other stuff. Now devices largely connect to the nearest AP, roam seamlessly as we move around the property, and we have no issues with connection stability. All in all, very impressed and would recommend.

I bought this access point for home use, and it's great, if you have the time and patience to set it up!

Make sure you have a switch that can output fast enough if you buy this standalone.

It comes with a Power over Ethernet adapter so don't worry about powering it, if you don't have a PoE switch.

But note that PoE is the output on that box, I assumed otherwise which confused me for a bit. I bought this access point for home use, and it's great, if you have the time and patience to set it up!

All in all very impressive & I'm highly likely to purchase another Unifi AP for downstairs to allow proper integrated wifi coverage i.e. no dead spots, seamless hand-off and 5Ghz band steering (currently using 5Ghz on an ASUS rt-68 with the same SSID's as 2.4GHz, but in the absence of band steering, it's a bit hit and miss as to which band clients will connect on).

Combined with pfSense as our router, *this* is how home networking should be!

The unit runs well and provides good signal and speed around our 150mtr wooden hall but as soon as we go out side the range drops like a stone and the signal fluctuates markedly. We have a number of older Ubiquiti units (like 5-6 years older) spread around the place and expected this one to perform better so somewhat disappointed it is only marginally better. There maybe some settings that need a tweak which is something we will look at when time allows. Easy and quick to install. Ubiqiti gear is good when it runs. Its a PITA when it doesn't. And this access point was no exception. After wasting half a day trying to figure out why it wouldn't properly upgrade and talk to the Unifi controller, I finally found the magic combination of settings, resets and reboots and now I now it works perfectly and I wont ever have to touch it again.
