Customers appreciated the easy set-up and high-quality prints from this all-in-one laser printer. They loved its speed and convenience, and the ease of printing directly from their devices. The compact size is also a plus, making it an efficient use of office space. However, customers expressed disappointment over its lack of wireless capabilities. Despite this, overall, the printer is deemed great value for money and highly recommended.
Installation software has been a nightmare
The printer hardware seems okay however the installation software has been a nightmare, tried on 4 different Win10 machines. After extended troubleshooting and trying numerous 'fixes' including HP Print and Scan Doctor it's still not fully installed nor working properly on the wired network. The futherst it has ever got is to where it tries to 'call home' and fails even though there is an Internet connection, and then won't complete installation. Tried with no firewall, dynamic and static IPs, different driver versions, factory resets, etc etc. Definately not recommended.
Installation softeare is rubbish
I attempted to install the software and it will not detect the printer even when I tell it the IP address. Yet if I go to the IP addres in my browser it shows the GUI. The HP Diagnostic tool finds it at the correct address straight away but then fails to install too because the installation software can't find it. Then it tries to 'call home' (send my personal information to HP) and says I have no Internet connection which is absolute rubbish. So I have a HP network printer that can't install for the network because it's own software can't detect it!! Wish I'd never purchaed this junk :(
Great printer but consumables not so readily available
The print quality is good, and seems like a well built printer/all in one. The only concern I have so far is availability and price of spare toners cartridges - a full set of original HP toners is actually more expensive than another printer (complete with toner cartridges!) - that said, I don't do a lot of printing so they should last some time.
Be aware of what you are purchasing!
I purchased this printer online thinking it was wireless but only discovered once I started setting it up that fdn stands for fax,duplex,network which means it must be connected via ethernet to the WiFi network if you want to print from a device connected to the same network.
I managed to get around this using a WiFi repeater/extender with an ethernet/LAN port then connecting the printer to that
Be sure to check for fdw (fax,duplex,wireless) if you need wireless capability.
No WiFi
Good quality of printing. Easy to setup on iMac.
Should read full speck before buying no WiFi however it was my mistake otherwise I would give 5 stars.
Good printer but no WIFI
The printer/scanner was recommended by our Techi guy so went straight ahead and purchased and didn't check it out properly, my bad.
Printer/scanner quality very good but WIFI, thought there would be.
Hp M283FDN
Works fine and good value for money.
Set up for air print is quite simple and easy.
Requires HPSmart to be downloaded on the hand held device.
Cost of toners is very high- hopefully, more vendors start selling the toners to being price down.
Good value for features
Biggest issue so far is the delay on selecting any of the smart features. Significant delays on the control panel saying 'downloading from internet'. Even for basic functions.
Also lack of wifi is disappointing.
Otherwise it would be 5 stars.
It's a printer
Always wanted a laser printer for home office and was happy to get this one, the print quality is great and quiet. The scan function worked seamlessly with my PC and the out of the box setup was seamless. Would be 5 stars but had to reset the network settings to get the Air print to work for some reason.
Amazing Easy to Use Printer/Copier/Scanner
Brought this printer a few months ago and it's amazing, was easy to hook up and very simple to use. Haven't used the fax machine so not sure how that would work.
