Edifier R1855DB 70W Powered Bookshelf Speaker System with Bluetooth - Matte Black

I have had these for a few months now and these speakers are amazing. Before I bought these, I was a bit skeptical about having enough bass and bottom end but WOW! I listed to hard rock with a lot of kick drums, bass and guitar and everything sounds great. I would highly recommend you get a pair of these, especially at these prices. I purchsed a pair of these after reading online reviews and a friends recommendation. Sadly I was unable to 'try before you buy'. If I had I would not have continued with the purchase. I had read several reviews stating the mid range was muddy and lacking on the R1855DB, but overall they are superb. But, quite frankly, these speakers are incredibly average overall. As others have said, the bass is spectacular, and there is little doubt these pack a punch. Listening to these back to back with JVC's JV130BT2020 (cheaper, but only 30W output), the Edifier's simply pale in comparison to the JVC's incredible (for the price) musicality. With a distorted midrange and an infuritaing tendancy to 'pop' to some bass notes, even at moderate volume, the R1855DB's are average at best. I have since listened to my friends set, and, yep, same issues, but as he hadn't compared anything, he was none the wiser.

Pros: Awesome bass, powerful sound, great for gaming and movie watching.
Cons: Definitely not high fedility, muddy mids, strange 'bass pops' listening to certain music tracks.

Recommendation; Listen before you buy.

Unpacking was a great surprise to feel how heavy they were and they are on my desk (may move to stands) they look great and a great sound and enough bottom end to be the envy of every shelf/desktop speakers. I would definitely recommend these for sure. I was amazed with the upgrade in sound quality for my TV pairing it with these speakers. A rich and deep sound. Bluetooth connection has.been easy and reliable - and I can patch in Spotify from TV or from my phone with no hassle. Pleased that they are at the affordable end of the proper speakers range. Impressive sound, I have speakers set on each side of the couch, optical line from the tv gives great sounds from watching tv to streaming music on YouTube.
