The unit's non-circular shape not only maximises the area of speaker diaphragm, increasing sound pressure for more punchy bass, it also reduces driver excursion while maintaining the same sound pressure, resulting in less distortion.

The Sound Of The 90's
I have used this speaker quite a bit over the last couple days and have tuned it to my liking by use of the Sony app and my devices DSP. I have also realized that it plays music from the 70s, 80s and 90s era really well. Stereo sound out of the box creates smooth ambient sound and quite a large sound stage for its size and type of speaker. I much rather have this speaker than the bigger XG500 as it just sounds much better than its bigger brother. It is heavy for its size but is still very portable. Sony definitely got it right with this one and i think Android uses will not be disappointed after choosing this product. Bass is muddy at times...view more
