Elgato Video Capture for Mac PC or iPad Digitize video from a VCR, camcorder and other analogue video sources for playback on your Mac, PC and iPad

It works straight out of the box and is very easy to use. There are a few things they could change to make it even better, but for any entry level user it's just right.

Negatives:
- You can maximize the recording window to watch it full screen as it records
- It doesn't display the name you entered for the video anywhere

The instructions on the box are rubbish. They make it sound like you just connect it to the VCR, plug the USB into your PC and away you go. You actually need to go to the
Elgato website and download the latest software and driver. No mention of that so I wasted 30 minutes googling the problem before working it out for myself. Simple, just works, need to download the free Elgato software but integrates no probs with Win10. Basic controls include setting: 4:3 or letterbox setting, how long to record for, trim function, S-Video or composite video selection. Can preview the video and sound and start record when required. Been using it now for a few months and all going well. If you require more advanced video editing features then another video editing package will be required. works well out of the box, using it for VHS to PC recording. Pricey when compared to easycap , but couldn't get easycap to work with Win 10 but Elgato did work straight away. However I don't think that is a reason to jack up the price.

Great product, it just works! I've mucked around with the generic "Easy Cap" version of this product for years, used on both Mac and PC. In the end the video and audio never sync, I should have grabbed this device much sooner! It's quite hard to find a Mac based video capture device with component input unless you go up to very expensive studio level products!

This product was purchased because I was warned that the El Cheapo ones just dont work. Glad I bought this one. It is easy to set up and use and totally reliable. Was looking to transfer some old VHS tapes onto a spare hard drive.
This product did everything I needed, easy to set up and the end result was better than I expected.

Works on either Mac or Pc, as the program required to run it is downloaded from their website.

Great product. No issues with it. Easy to use and you can continue to work on other things while it captures video in the background. Allows you to trim the footage but you'll need other software if you want to edit. Great product. No issues with it. I first have to capture to an MP4 file, then import to Pinnacle Studio for actually creating a DVD - to be fair, you can do this via the supplied downloadable software, but, like I said, its a bit limited.
