As a smart watch (notifications etc.) it's not good at all, this is a common complaint and maybe more to do with the app but it looses connection to the phone and you will miss notifications/calls, read the app reviews.

Personally, I take issue with being required to have an account in order to use hardware you've paid for, it's not as bad as needing a subscription, it's not alone in doing this and I'll have to accept it's normal at some point but it's a painful process to configure your watch and set up an account at the same time when the sign up process puts constant hurdles in the way all while trying to get you to sign up for extras with an opt-out model - I just want a watch that tells the time and notifies me when I receive a txt or call but 2 days later and I'm still trying to set up a Fitbit account because it refuses to reset the perfectly good password I chose.

Great price (thanks PB Tech). I bought the Charge 4 due to it's inbuilt GPS - and it works OK on runs, but it failed on cycle training rides.
Maybe that's due to the mobile signal failing, who knows, but whatever. I got the woven strap version, as the Charge 2 consistently suffered from strap breakage.
That was a common issue with Charge 2's. Too early to say if it's fixed in this version.
The Charge 4 looks good and works OK and has some added functions, which is nice.
The biggest negative is that it's MUCH more complex to start/stop an exercise. The Charge 2 took two button hits. The 4 takes several swipes, and then multiple button hits to navigate to the exercise "Start", and the same to "Finish". Not great when you're virtually dead from your 2 k run at 7'30" pace...
Also, the screen display is not bright, and given you have much more screen navigation to do in the 4, that's a bit of an issue.

Used it for over a month. The watch is of great quality, slightly overpriced given its features. To access the full functionality of the watch, you will need a Fitbit membership. For years I have not been able to wear a watch due to allergic reactions to metal. This does not irritate my skin, I can wear it in the shower and the pool, and it does everything I hoped it would do, as well as being light and comfortable. Highly recommended. I bought this for my girlfriend to use on her runs so she doesn't need to carry her phone. She isn't much of a technophile so I went for the best value watch with a built in tracker. The Charge 4 ticked all the boxes:
-A week of battery life
-Spotify support
-In built GPS tracking
-A clean premium look
