Verbatim 98938 External Slimline Mobile CD/DVD Writer USB 2.0 Black NO ADDITIONAL POWER REQUIRED

I was initially concerned about this product needing TWO USB ports to operate (as per the illustrationn) and thankfully note that it now comes with only 1 connector (as per the Verbatim update notice on their website which I checked on before purchasing). This is very handy for laptops like mine where 2 USB ports are either not available or difficult to manage. Construction seems sturdy enough but time will tell. The verbatim DVD/CD player initally did not want to work at all. After numerous tries it somehow started and the new Dell computer running Windows 10 finally decided to read it!!! Lets hope it keeps working. I am all for DVD/CD players in laptops in case internet goes down or is slow. External drives are annoying. So few computers have cd units nowadays and cars don't have cd players. The solution for me was to get my cds onto a USB stick. This was a two stage process, first needing to get my cds onto my cd-less computer. So the Verbatim cd disk was ideal for this. It ran smoothly and quickly. My shiny new computer didn't have space for an optical drive, so chucked this onto the order. Works well, but quite noisy. Very slimline and makes me wonder how long it will last, structurally.
