My current PC is used for office work, internet, watching movies (via TV/HDMI cable); had it for 5 years and the only thing that was getting me down was the boot time :-( it was taking nearly 3-4 minutes to boot up to windows.

No longer a problem with an SD drive! Unfortunately, my motherboard did not have the correct port for the Samsung 970 Evo Plus.. also, it would only boot from a SATA port.

So, my advice, if getting an SD PCIA2 Card, is to check whether your motherboard can actually accept the card AND boot up from it.

The Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB is an excellent performer that not only provides incredible speed (improved over the non-"Plus" predecessor) but also offers very good longevity through its use of TLC cells.

It works very nicely in a PCIe adapter so if you ran out of M.2 slots to use, you can still use this card in conjunction with a cheap adapter provided you have a x4 PCIe slot available. No special drivers required.

The card can get quite warm under heavy load so I would avoid areas that do not receive any ventilation at all in order to avoid throttling. One can easily monitor the drive temperature using software like HWiNFO. Excellent SSD! Great IOPS and sequential read/write, you just need to keep it cool as it gets hot on long file read/writes but for everyday use that's not a problem. Excellent SSD!
