Samsung NVMe SSD 980 delivers up to 3,500 MB/s and 3,000 MB/s for sequential read and write respectively.1) The performance of 980 is remarkable since this provides outstanding NVMe performance of PCIe 3.0 with DRAMless architecture. Thanks to the Host Memory Buffer (HMB) feature, and upgraded Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0, users can experience the supreme performance for even longer time than the predecessor 970 EVO.

Proven Reliability
The 980 boasts proven endurance with up to 600 terabytes1) 2) written. Advanced thermal control solutions enhance performance with reduced heat risk. Dynamic Thermal Guard (DTG) technology proactively minimizes overheating, and a heat spreader with an integrated thin copper film dissipates heat more efficiently. A nickel coating on the controller also helps to dissipate heat faster during heavy workload use in order to ensure the high levels of quality and reliability for which Samsung is known.

Enhanced Software with Full Power Mode support
With the update of Magician 6.3 in March, 980 will support the new feature called Full Power Mode. With this new feature, 980 runs at the peak level for nonstop, consistent high performance. Additionally, 980 features Samsung Data Migration Software, which helps users to move their data easily.

This NVMe drive is great the read and write speeds are great I love my drive and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a cheap option to have an os or games on, I use it as a boot drive and it works fine with games and an os on it, I don't even use 50% of the devices read and write speeds
A brand worth buying
Very happy with this drive, real quick and easy to use, I bought this as well as a WD Black, and the Samsung is better bang for Buck.
Can't go to wrong with a Samsung NMVe.
I actually wrongly purchased this and now very much understand the differences between my options when considering M.2 disks (turns out I needed an NGFF compatible drive). Anyway, I ended up also purchasing an NMVe USB C enclosure and using this as the storage component for said interface/enclosure - Its damn sweet - The through put is def not limited by the disk, but the enclosure. Solid buy for the price.
Fast, reliable and easy to install (kind of)
It installs easy with no extra SATA cables, just plug into your M.2 slot and away you go. No issues so far and my system now boots up much faster, coming from an old SATA SSD drive.
Only thing is to make sure you have the screws you need to install it lol.
Speedy upgrade
Replaced a sata SSD with this and the boot time is noticeably faster. Very happy.

been running some old hard drives for my pc. taking ages to boot and always at 100% disk usage. Now almost instant boot and 9 times out of 10 0% disk usage.

Great NVME SSD and Reasonably Priced
This SSD is super fast and suitable for most users, as opposed to the "Pro" version which would not be taken advantage of in day-to-day workloads for gaming or the office environment.
Using this for my OS Drive now, instead of my Crucial P2 (which is now my secondary M.2 SSD), and there is a noticable improvement in booting and general load times. The biggest difference is transferring files, though the PCI-E 4.0 is probably the main factor for that.
Highly recommended over the 970 Pro, and for those who don't want/need to spend the extra for 980 Pro.
