I'm consistently impressed with Seagate's shingled drives. There's nothing mind shattering about the speeds, but you can't really tell that it's an SMR drive, it just works like an ordinary drive. It doesn't need drastically slow down during large transfers and doesn't need to vibrate for five hours after it's been used a bit like some other drives I have. The best value drive you can easily get, you're not sacrificing quality, only performance. A 5400 rpm drive like this is a lot quieter and a bit more energy efficent than IronWolf or Exos drives, but the sustained write especially is far lower. If you're looking for cheap bulk/cold storage, this is great, for a NAS or server definitely get a higher perf drive. The best value drive you can easily get, you're not sacrificing quality, only performance. I bought this a few years ago, and while I'm sure there are improvements in newer models, this HDD has been sitting in my PC, quietly storing my non-gaming things without a fuss. It handles everything fine with perfectly reasonable read/write speeds. I have my SSD for more intensive things, but this slotted in and become part of the operating furniture. Would buy again if I had to replace it for some reason, but the thing is so tough it'll probably outlive me. great product works well, wish it had of come with the sliders to install it or online chat so we could have asked if PBTect could have installed it for us even if it cost a little extra. Video files can be bulky and the work flow here needs to meet that. The apps I count on include some that are ancient Win7 miracles and these dont do that well on current OS systems. For these, and other reasons such as not having the studio PCs networked, the robust work speed and convenient size of the units, the 8TB SATA3 Internal HDD BarraCuda are part of the answer for me. At least one in each main PC. Rare issues with a drive are always my incompetence but like to think am improving - and thankfully no major data damage to date.
