Fiio makes good IEM's for affordable prices.

I brought these to use with my cell phone and my DAP.

They mostly work fine aside from tending towards highs and mids to the detriment of lows and bass but nothing that can't be compensated for with equalizer settings.

Once I adjusted the equalizer they had pretty good sound. Fiio makes good IEM's for affordable prices.

Bought due to an online sale.
Found that the sound quality is good. We are using this on a live band set up. Having to clearly hear all the instruments and clean vocals.
Build quality is excellent. The ear piece is snug in the ears and does not fall off. Bought due to an online sale.

If you're looking for the best bang for your buck IEMs or earphones, these are unequivocally the best choice. Aesthetically, these IEMs look and are built like a much more expensive product. The sound quality is fantastic for its price (especially during sales) - the bass frequencies are rich and punchy and the trebles have ample sparkle and airiness, however, the main caveat is the slight lack of clarity in the mids, prominently the 1kHz and 6kHz frequencies are underwhelming which affects the tonal quality and timbre of some genres such as Classical and Jazz music. I saw the JD1 for a very good price at PBTech’s Black Friday sale and as I like FiiO I bought one.

There is a detachable good-quality cable with 3.5mm stereo jack which comes with mic, volume control and play/pause button. It’s nice to have the detachable cable. Unfortunately the play/pause button doesn’t work with my Samsung phone. The jack fits through the hole in my Otterbox case, some other headset’s don’t.

The JD1 comes without carry case, and only 3 sets of silicon earbuds. Well, it is a low-end.

First impression – these sound nice for the price. The sound is middle-of-the-road with strong bass that most people will like. Treble is bright, but sounds a little metallic in some tracks. Clarity is OK, not great, the track “Bubbles” from Yosi Horikawa sounds a little flat and you don’t “feel” the space like you do with other headphones. Mids sound natural but I get the impression voice is a little weak compared to other bands. Bass is quite strong and has good punch. However, compared to better IEM’s I’ve heard the bass lacks subtleties.

Passive isolation of the JD1’s is good, comfort is good, build quality is good.

My test tracks included Money for Nothing from Dire Straits, Road to Nowhere from Talking Heads, the Nigel Kennedy version of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Walk This Way by Run DMC and Bubbles from Yosi Horikawa. Yes, I’m an old guy. I also listened to some podcasts.

The JD1’s are good allrounders. I’d say, not the best for classical orchestra, but pretty good for everything else.

In serval reviews people recommend a DAC to use with these? Seriously? Personally, I find this is a joke. For example, the Dragonfly Red costs you about NZ$ 300-400. Who would use a $20 pair of IEM’s even with a $200 DAC? If your budget allows a DAC, rather buy better headphones. Even the FiiO FD1’s are a noticeable step up in sound quality.

Unless you own a DAC already,one, buying a DAC to drive this particular set of IEM’s I couldn’t recommend buying one to drive the JD1’s.

I will still try the JD1’s on my Dragonfly Red but I’m happy to make a 5-start recommendation now. For the price the JD1’s sound surprisingly nice. A good DAC would only improve sound further.

I use Grado Headphones at home, But wanted something small and easy without all the drama of the different types of wiresless buds/headphones. These hit the mark. Much better sound than many of the wireless buds on the market. I've used these while walking around loud traffic; music is clear without having to bump up the volume too loud, they fit snug and don't tend to catch wind noise either. Super comfortable, good sound quality for the price, and the microphone is relatively clear as well. I can't wear these for more than an hour or two without my ears starting to hurt, both from the pressure of having the wires loop over the top and from my ear shape not fitting that of the drivers particularly well. YMMV.
