Bad band quality
I have had 2 pairs of XM5's over the last 2.5 years. The first pairs swivel came apart, and just today the plastic connecting the band to the earcup completely shattered. I will be looking at getting a pair of Momentum 4's.
A step up from my Bose Q35
Much better software on these than what I had with my Bose. A little base-heavy but noise cancelling is very impressive, as are microphones with zoom calls.
Great quality
Great quality sound and noise cancelling. Only downside is the squeaky sound glasses make with them when moving around.
Good for programmers
I had a need to get noise cancelling headphones because I'd shifted back to working at home next to my producer partner who spends much of her time talking to people. Not good for programming. Problem is that I really don't like active NC headphones because I invariably can hear the buzz. But passive sometimes just isn't enough. I want to drop the outside world down to the point that I can hear voices - but have to concentrate to hear what people are saying. These ones do all of that.
Since I work on a linux workstation board without bluetooth, I also got a Sennheiser BTD 600 audio bluetooth dongle that does a good job of giving me Tidal...view more
Pretty decent
Its obviously a good product however I was expecting more for the price tag.
Rubbish build quality, do not buy
After only having for 2 months, keeping in their case, using potentially 30 or 40 times, one of the plastic arms has cracked. The absolute rubbish build quality completely counters any decent quality about them. Not covered under warranty, told to tape them up by pbtech. Do not buy, spend your $500 on something built better.
Good sounds but they broke within 13 months
I have used those headphones exclusively at work, seated at my desk, putting them back in their case every day at the end of the day. Nothing to say about sound, it is great, but after exactly 13 months, they broke at the pivot above the right headphone.
Warranty is expired, any way Sony said physical damages are excluded from warranty, so it is very disappointed with headphones at this price.

Excellent quality, disappointing comfort
The sound quality and ANC are very impressive! The headphones have clear highs and a satisfying bass, and seem to have a surround sound type of playback. The ANC cancels noise really well! I took them off after trying them on for an hour, only to realise it had been raining halfway through and I couldn't hear it!
So why only three stars? Unfortunately, it seems that the design of the headband is just incompatible with my head shape. After about an hour of use, the top of my head gets very uncomfortable and I have to keep shifting it around. The earpads are also quite slim, my ears sit right against the inner fabric which kept bothering me....view more
