I have had a pro still works awesome purchased the cosmos elite thinking it might be an improvement, got that totally wrong. the head phones don't stay in place the software is bad will not run properly in steam vr, i have tried it on the three vr compatible pc's it only work's once on them and then the motion smoothing magically becomes in compatible and it's like trying to play a multiplayer game with a lag of 3 million, what is HTC thinking when they made this product. I found the peripheral vision very blurry and was not able to get the headset to stay still, constantly moving around on my head and making the time spent fairly unenjoyable. Disclaimer I did not buy this product but did set it up from new for another person and tested it out for a few days. I have owend previous vr headsets and currently use a Quest 3 as my main VR device.

Short Review
This headset is heavy, complicated to setup having to install both the HTC vive portal AND Steam VR and make sure they both work. Calibration was a PITA and is very inflexable to use compared to modern headsets.

Short Review
This headset is heavy, complicated to setup having to install both the HTC vive portal AND Steam VR and make sure they both work. Calibration was a PITA and is very inflexable to use compared to modern headsets.
The displays are trash even compared to the outgoing Quest 2 and are not comparable even slightly to modern devices that use a pancake lens design llike the Pico 4 or Quest 3. The Combined resolution of both eyes is lower than the single eye resolutions of modern headsets and the sceen door effect is atrocuois. Text is very hard to read and the aliasing artifacts make the overall experience feel very dated.
The controlers are very clunky and do not feel even remotely nice to use. they are large, heavy and the haptics feels like the equivelent of a mid 2000s phone vibration system

The biggest drawback is that you have to mount base stations to your walls and can only ise this headset in one designated place in your house thats close (5m) to a gaming PC. VR purists will say that this is better than streaming to standalone headsets but as a Quest 2 and 3 owner that is complete BS. This is an inferior product that is way overpriced. If you want to get into VR but dont know if you will like it buy a quest 2 or pico 3/4 and install virtual desktop it literally costs 1/3rd the price!! If you are after the best headset for gaming in 2023/24 get a Quest 3.

With steamVR controls seem lacking for what you're paying, not all the buttons have been mapped to anything, most of the time you're just using the trigger and D-Pad. I'm unsure if mine is faulty, but the haptic feedback seems unreliable and the controllers don't always register the buttons correctly.

Recently a new issue arises where only one of the base stations will connect properly. The headset is still usable, but the tracking is worse.
