TP-Link Deco M4 (AC1200) Dual-Band WiFi 5 Whole Home Mesh System - 3 Pack

We have a 2 storey house and were using powerline networking adapters to get internet connection from the router on the ground floor to the bedrooms on the upper floor. This worked but speed wasn't great, perhaps 10-15Mbps. So i bought this TP-Link kits to replace it and its great! Pretty easy to set up and the internet connection speed upstairs is now close to 20 times faster, steadily around 260-280Mbps. I also like the fact that all 3 x of the nodes have 2 x ethernet ports in them and so you can plug desktop PCs directly into those without needing to also buy a wireless adapter. I purchased this product over the weekend. I'd done extensive research and knew this was the right one for my home. It's over three floors at 330sqm with a property area of over 600sqm. I was able to set this up with no hassle using the downloaded app. It was up and running in minutes. nThis product has given me speeds of 190mbps over virtually every area of the house (apart from 2 spots at 70mbps - and I'm not complaining). It's also given me coverage out to the back of the property at 60mbps. A great purchase. And don't listen to anyone who tries to say you need an ax system. All config is done by the app. The web interface is basically useless. That being said, the app is easy to use, but I dislike having to install an app for every little thing. I bought these two years ago. They worked very well at first, easy to set up, great coverage, etc. One unit died completely after around 1 year, then around 6-8 months ago, we started having intermittent drop-out issues with the remainder of the system. After confirming with our ISP that it wasn't an issue with the line, we discovered that the units needed a software update to function correctly. After applying the software update they worked well for another few months but have now gone back to intermittent drop-outs and there is no updated software available to resolve this. Had to use a certain phone to install but it worked fine on that phone. Everyone is joining the network easily now. No internet issues since installation. Very easy to get up and running and works extremely well. 160mbps on fast.com from each location. Finally have internet across the whole house across multiple levels!

First lesson - the Chorus box is an Optical Network Terminal and your ISP's wifi router is a 'modem/router'. Plug into the ISP's box and disable its wifi. OR follow the pdf instructions I just found on the product page to connect directly to the Chorus ONT.
Second lesson - when a secondary TP-link is flashing red, this is not a bad thing, this is the step before it handshakes with another unit and goes white to show it's ready to go.
Third lesson - when the TP-link is flashing white it is upgrading its firmware and this will take what feels like a very long time. Patience is a virtue.

I had a bit of fun and games getting the mesh set up, quite a bit of it was user error but I did hit issues where the app wouldn't proceed and I had to reset the unit and start again a few times. But once setup was done these units work beautifully. The app is nice and friendly to manage the mesh. Now I have internet in my garage!
