I purchased this to replace a dead Thermaltake PSU in my workstation. Unfortunately this PSU whines (coil vibration?) when the PC is at low load, and when the fan starts it sounds like a tractor.

Brought this PSU as a swap in replacement for a Cooler Master MWE Gold 650W that died. It fits into the Corsair 4000D well and has a little more room due to its shorter profile. However after using it for only a few minutes i was disappointed as it produces an annoying high pitched hiss when the PC is at idle. What is worse though is the fan, as a another buyer mentioned, once it kicks in it creates a horrendous amount of noise compared to my quiet PC. I tried mounting fan down and fan up, no difference! I was not told if this was a fault or by design. But this power supply had constant high frequency hum.

Not an issue for gaming PC as GPU fans are will block off this noise, but if using PC for work on your desk you can hear it. Returned this power supply.

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but it seems to have happened to multiple people online.

Overall it's just a PSU, it does what it is supposed to do; but it does it very well (note: I bought the 850W model, but they are all the same in looks and features; I have used it for 6 weeks at this point). It is completely silent under low load, and not noisy even under load; it is completely stable.
It looks nice for what it is, PSUs can only look a certain way, but it is cool and modern-looking (I appreciate that kind of thing even though it is hidden away at the bottom of my build as per most modern cases).

The cabling is fantastic (ATX 3.0, so the latest available) and it has a 7-year warranty; I'm looking forward to owning this for a long time.

Very happy with this Power Supply Unit (PSU). As a future proofing of my PC Build, this modular PSU has all the answers! I did a fair amount of research before deciding on the Corsair RM1000e. The fan is the LOUD and it's the killer! When the PC is at idle it sounds like a single engine aircraft is flying overhead. I would return it if there wasn't a 30% egregious restocking fee.
