Powercolor Reaper AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6 Graphics Card

This wholesome card right here comes in a reasonable size. I wouldn't call it small, but given manufacturers have gone bananas these days, making GPU's the size of a stack of bricks, well, this is "small" by comparison. Well I was lucky to get this card at 3am - was going for the Sapphire Pulse but this was my second choice...mn they sold out fast.
Much smaller than I expected (looking for a 2-2.5 slot replacement for my RX 5700XT), no flashy bells and whistles but does the job really really well...once I got around the linux trickery of a kernel upgrade, Mesa upgrade and firmware upgrade.
Big thanks to Alastair at PBTECH Penrose for helping sort out my web refund at 5pm the day before launch before so I could get this card. It was a long shot but he worked his magic somehow...big ups. I really wanted a 5080 & had planned to buy one on release.......then the announcements were made & pricing set. Long story short, on average, the 5080 is 22% extra performance for 72% extra cost, no wonder the 5080's are just sitting on shop shelves gathering dust.. As for this card - I love it. Runs cool, underclocks beautifully & handles 4K without issue (for the titles I want to play). Can't recommend it enough. Unlike another reviewer, I don't find the fans loud. Maybe I have better cooling in my case?
It does however make an audible tick sound every time the fans spin up. And since fans only run over a certain temp, if you're sitting around that threshold, you'll hear this ticking sound as the fans spin up then stop.
It does have coil whine when running max graphics, even with capped FPS. But it sounds like every 9070 suffers from that. Can't complain about the performance. And love that it's two slot.

Runs the games about 20-25% faster than the older RTX 3090 I had before this that I managed to sell for the same price as this 9070xt.

I was so glad to see a 2 slot card come out for the 9070XT, This replaced my RX6800 in my Ghost S1, and it runs great. Performance is pretty close the to 7900XTX in most games, and even better in games that have ray tracing. The fans can get pretty noisey, but limiting them to 50% seems to be a sweet spot. This is basically a reference card (same clock speeds etc) and it's very easy to recommend if you need something that is two slots wide. Definitely would encourage everyone to wait until prices settle down if you can help it. I like the look, very simple and plain. I hate RGB stuff so no complaints there. Its very good size considering it has three fans but the problem is, it has a smaller than average heat sink so it heats up fast, conversely it cools down fast too when the fans spin. Unfortunately any fan speed above 50 percent is getting very loud and i also have the beginnings of some piercing coil whine. So playing games its a constant loop of Fans spinning up then cooling rapidly then turning off, then back on again 5 mins later or less . It performs great in most applications with good power draw and with under volting can idle very cool but again...view more I like the look, very simple and plain.
