Dynamix SPAUSB-5V2A 10W Max Small Form USB Wall Charger

Bought this to power a Usb clock as the adapter was nice and slimline and the clock only drew less than an amp so it was well within ratings.

Unit failed and caught fire internally after about 1 week of operation, taking out the breaker at the switchboard. Opened it up for a post mortem examination.

No input filtering, no output filtering. Charger was supplied from a surge suppressor, so failure was not caused by a mains surge.

My verdict - cheap and nasty and unfit for purpose. Glad it didn't burn my house down.

After five months the white cover came off when my 10 year old daughter unplugged the usb cable - left 240v wires and metal terminals exposed. Safety issue with this design - should be recalled. Four out of five work perfectly, however one just simply stopped working. At least PB Tech replaced it via the service desk immediately no questions asked (other than me saying it no longer worked).

I bought this at PB tech university of auckland. i had come back three times to exchange because it doesn’t work. The forth one they gave me work a bit longer but eventually stopped working after half a day. Plus it got really hot while charging. The staff has been super helpful to me but the product just sucks.
