Turns out, the charger is not a smart charger and is timer based only! No matter how full the batteries are, the charger will continue charging for a set period of time. This can cause overcharging, overheating, all the not very good stuff that will lead to the life of your battery being shortened. You are far better off getting the smart version of this charger (which PB tech also sells, see here; https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/BATPAN5254/Panasonic-K-KJ55MCC4TA-3hr-Quick-Charger--4-x-AA-e ) which will automatically shut off when the battery is full.

A bit confusing that the charge light is green when charging then turns off when fully charged. To begin I assumed the batteries were fully charged when light was green (charged batteries before using them). Works well, good quality batteries. Use it for my Xbox controller. Charging time is 10 hours and since this is a dumb charger you have to time it to not to over charge the battery. Otherwise good value.
Update: After 2 years of use going strong. battery is holding enough charge and lasting more then a week. Also charger does turn itself off if you forget to switch off after 10 hours charge time. Works well, good quality batteries. Use it for my Xbox controller. Charging time is 10 hours and since this is a dumb charger you have to time it to not to over charge the battery. Otherwise good value.

Needing to charge batteries in pairs is a big issue though. My devices use batteries in lots of 1 or 3, not pairs, which means I can't charge them with this charger. The more expensive fast charger looks to allow single battery charging, so I'm going to have to splash out and get one of these. So I effectively paid half as much again for the batteries, and wont get much use from the charger. Good batteries. I have been a big fan of these. I use the professional rechargeable batteries for my photography work, but for household items, I use these. They are perfect for kids toys, clocks and tv remotes. I despise regular batteries as they're very wasteful. These say what the do and they're easy to use. Love that I can also charge the AAA and the AA batteries in this charger. Thank you so much! Only con is the packaging - I understand they require a difficult-to-open plastic package for theft purposes, however I still wish it was easier to open and used less plastic.
