Xiaomi TV Stick FHD Portable Streaming Media Player

I purchased one of these on sale when I was no longer able to use Chromecast with my phone (Huawei P40),
I am so happy I decided to buy it; it was easy to set up and easy to use. It comes with Amazon plus, and downloading other apps was simple.
I set mine up with Disney +, TVNZ and TV3 apps. The remote is good and easy to use.
I was impressed with how easy this is to use that I got one at another sale for my mother who was having difficulty with using Chromecast.
She is now able to watch all the streaming services and YouTube easily and without a fuss.

One thing to note is that the remote doesn't come with batteries so you will need two AAA batteries for the remote.

I already have an inVidia Shield that I use in the lounge for media streaming; my wife wanted something for the bedroom so I bought the Xiaomi TV Stick when it was on special. Unfortunately, it's a disappointing piece of kit. Firstly, in case it's not clear, this doesn't have on onboard battery so it always needs to be plugged into the mains - it's a stick on a long piece of string. Setting up was not a breeze - it refused to recognise my phone even when it was right next to it, so I had to manually set it up. Finally install it, and its stunningly how slow it is - the home screen opens and the apps slooooowly populate the screen. There's a lag between pressing a button and the response on-screen. And there's fewer apps available than for the Shield. Overnight, it somehow went to sleep and the only way to wake it up was to unplug the power.

It works, but the product is pretty poor - ok as a secondary device (otherwise, I would've returned it!) but not a patch on better media players. I would recommend getting something more expensive if your budget allows.

I don't recommend this at all. Pay the extra and get the MiBox. I have both and the box works flawlessly while the stick regularly crashes and exits out of apps I don't recommend this at all. Straight out the box and this thing blank screens constantly. Sometimes it works just fine but more often than not, especially after first boot, it is laggy and then thinks so hard that it overheats itself and crashes.

Been using this for 2 weeks now and its looking great. Im using it in an old 20 inch tv for daytime and to a projector during movie times at night or on weekend with family or friends. Worth it. Saw a previous comment about not connecting easily to Bluetooth device - have proved this is related to the device, now the TV stick - new bluetooth device reconnects easily. Worth it.
