Raising The Capacity Bar With New Technologies

Ultrastar DC HC550 integrates a suite of technologies on a 9-disk platform to create a new class of HDDs. 18TB capacity is achieved by combining technologies that improve areal density working together with technologies that improve performance and reduce power consumption.

- The first HDD in the industry to harness Energy-Assisted Magnetic Recording (EAMR) technology improves writability and therefore increases areal density.

- The industry's first Triple Stage Actuator (TSA) enhances head-positioning accuracy, delivering better performance and increased areal density.

It stores the stuff you want to keep

Bought a couple of these back in October 2021 and are still going strong (as one would expect)
Can't comment on the noise as far as yes they make hard drive noises.
Not that it is a bother as I have the computer that houses it, in another location.

5 year warranty is what I was looking for and these enterprise drives have it.
Similar to the WD Reds or Ironwolf "NAS" drives.
At the time of purchase, this proved to be a better buy as it had 2 years extra warranty and 2tb more storage for a few dollars more.

Very happy with the purchase!

5 year warranty, lots of space at an ok price

I have installed a few of these in a large NAS and one in a home storage PC.

Performance is pretty good and I expect over time I will be buying more.
Price per TB feels pretty good and I have found Western Digital warranties have been reliable and if things fail they have always come through.

Great drive for NAS

HDD Capacity: 12TB

Very happy with these drives. They run significantly cooler than the Seagate Ironwolf drives I have deployed. Will be switching fully to these Ultrastar drives for my NAS going forward.

Returns & Warranty

7 day right of exchange

If you change your mind after making a purchase, or realise you have ordered the incorrect item, you can enjoy the peace of mind that we offer a 7 day exchange policy.

To exchange a product, goods must be sealed and unopened, with packaging in original condition, accompanied by a valid receipt dated no more than 7 calendar days from when you request an exchange. A 20% restocking fee may be applied where goods are not returned in sealed, original packaging condition.

If there is not a suitable product that can be exchanged for your returned item you will be offered a credit on your account or gift card based on the value paid at the time of purchase. Items purchased on finance cannot be exchanged for a gift card.

Hassle free warranty service

If your product develops a fault within the manufacturer warranty period, you can either contact the manufacturer directly (some manufacturers provide a high level of warranty service - including free pickup or in some cases onsite repair), or return to one of our services centres / stores. Where the product has been directly imported by PB Tech, you need to contact us directly or present the product at any one of our service centres / stores together with your proof of purchase.
