This scooter is only suitable for flatter areas. It is not at all suitable for places like Wellington or Auckland which has a lot of hills since it loses a lot of power up hill. I decided to purchase this scooter to get around my small town as I have a disability and cannot walk far, I also do not have a car because I can't afford to run one.
Having ridden Lime scooters before, I found this easy learn to ride - it operates the same way, you kick off to start and the motor will engage when you press the throttle once you are going at least
4 km/hr.
I have taken it out 6 times or so now and it works very well, although the motor is not powerful enough to climb steep hills, you have to get off and push.

The battery life is very good, I can do about 4 rides of a couple of kilometers before the battery starts to get lowish (30 - 40%).
You can lock it with the Xaomi home app to help prevent people from stealing it. The wheels won't turn while it is locked so it can't be pushed and it of course won't start.
It is sometimes a little slow to connect to the app over bluetooth and sometimes it fails to connect, which can be inconvenient if it is locked. Fortunately restarting the app usually solves the problem.

Overall, I am very happy with it. I am able to ride distances I would struggle to walk, and it is of course much quicker than walking.
The only thing I am not happy with is the behavior of car drivers, who often turn into my path without looking when I dismount to cross the road. I wear a high vis vest and they still don't see me!
If you decide to buy this, keep an eye out at all times for people who shouldn't have a license, it might save your life!

Struggles a bit on inclines but can maintain a speed of 10-15kmh as long as the incline isn't more than 14%. Brakes work well and has regenerative braking, the intensity of regen braking can be changed in the app that connects to the scooter via bluetooth. Can be easily folded up when not in use. Battery charging is slow but just leave it plugged in overnight and it will be fully charged by morning. Overall a really solid product from Xiaomi.
