Xiaomi Standing Fan 2 Standing & Desktop Fan with Smart APP Control

My partner is seemingly a descendent of ancient magma dwelling folk. She takes showers that would cook potatoes and would probably be able to sleep through the heat of a house fire. I'm the opposite. However, in spite of all her resilience she's incapable of falling asleep with even a whisper of fan noise. This fan has saved our marriage as it's immensely quiet, it allows me to sleep in comfort, and with some fine tuned angles it also allows my partner to sleep in the inhumane conditions she desires. Pros:
Super quiet - on the two lowest settings, which are ideal for sleeping, you can barely hear it. Ideal for bedrooms, lounge rooms, offices.
Powerful - it might look small but it moves the air around just as well (if not better) than any larger/noisier fan I’ve owned.
Sturdy - it is made well and feels nice and sturdy. And being of solid plastic construction, it won’t go rusty like virtually every other fan I’ve owned.
Compact - it’s a good compact size for a bedroom.
Set up - it was easy to put together. I haven’t bothered with the app as the controls on the fan itself are easy to use.

I went off circular fans a while back and bought a series of tower fans that all performed OK but never lasted. When the most rect tower fan did I did some research on popular fans this one kept being brought up time and time again and since it is so cheap I figured I'd give it a shot. Well, damn! The app functionality is great and provides granular control, however, very few of these controls are exposed to Google Home, so if you want to do anything other than turn the fan on and off or change the speed, you'll have to go into the Mi app rather than use a voice assistant or Google Home. If you use Home Assistant, there's an integration that exposes everything in the Mi app.

The description calls the fan "height adjustable" which is technically correct but a bit misleading. When I think of height adjustable, I think a telescopic mechanism which allows me to adjust to my exact desired height. This fan has one single non-adjustable middle extension-post, allowing it to be one of either two fixed heights. The biggest flaw of this fan is that even with the extension-post, it's not very high. For me, it is *just* at the right height to be able to reach over my average-height bed frame. A third-extension post or a telescopic mechanism in the existing post would make the height range a lot more versatile.

But this is nit-picking, really. It's the best fan experience I've ever had, and it's not even close, which is crazy given how cheap it is!

I've only had it for a few months, so I can't speak to its longevity, but there are enough glowing reports out there from other people who seem satisfied on this front.

This is the one! Stop looking. Just buy this fan!

Not only can you use this fan as a desk AND Pedestal fan with the pole of the fan being 2 segments, but the app makes it super convenient to adjust it without having to drop what your doing or leave your bed. Though if you wanna adjust where it aims vertically you have to do that manually.

As i side note, previous reviews make note of how loud the beeping the fan is, which is true, However the beeps can be turned off through the app.

I bought this to upgrade our 10+ year old warehouse fan and from day 1 I have been impressed!
On its lowest setting it moves almost as much air as the old 50W fan did on it's highest setting!
Pros:
-Super quiet on the lower levels of 1 or 2. I often forget it's even on! I'm a somewhat light sleeper but this doesnt disturb me at all, it does get a bit louder on 3 or 4 though.
-Much more airflow than the old one - no contest! it would be like comparing the light of a cellphone torch to a ceiling bulb.
-Nice sturdy base that doesnt bend or collapse when you accidentally step on it in the middle of the night on your way to the loo LOL

Cons:
-The beep whenever you press a button is quite loud (wakes me up whenever my partner adjusts it)
-It is not as tall as most pedestal fans and the height cant be adjusted (other than by removing the extension to transform it into a desktop fan) We have to put it on a box to raise it up enough for the breeze to reach us in bed. It really needs another small vertical extension, unfortunately they arent even sold separately. Google turned up a few people who made a project of 3D printing one.
-The wifi app/functions (to fine tune the speed and turn the annoying beep off) seem a bit gimmicky and we couldn't get it to work. I'm sure there's an easier way to turn off a beep without needing to download an app.
Summary:
If it was 10cm taller and didnt beep, it would be the perfect fan!

This fan is honestly beyond legendary.

I originally purchased this for my gaming room for those sweaty lengthy summer game sessions but also started using it for sleepless Summer nights, they have a light fan option which gives a perfect QUIET breeze to help keep me cool while I sleep. It also blows hard on the regular setting which is lovely.

Waiting for another special to come on so I can snatch up a could more before they sell out in Summer again so I don't have to drag my fan from room to room.

If you're looking for an awesome fan, go for this one! This fan is honestly beyond legendary.

Fan settings go from 1-100, so far iv been using it between 10-20 for a light breeze at night. The mi home app can control turning left and right, the delayed turn off timer and notification sound. It's not completely silent as you can still hear the light whirl of the fans, but substantially quieter than the tower fan. Also surprisingly covers a wider than expected horizontal area.
