J5create USB 3.0 7 Port High Performance Mini HUB with 1 X Fast charging port, 5V4A power adapter included

This hub was top of my list before reading a lot of reviews on this site for various other USB hubs. I bought this hub for two key reasons - it's mains powered (see my comment below*) and has the added bonus of a fast charge port - two things other hubs didn't provide (as well as the number of USB ports in the hub itself).
I'm glad I chose this hub.

(While not a significant decider for me, it may be for some?) It's low profile - sleek.
It's also well designed and sturdy.
Hub design allows easy access to ports without disturbing other connections.
However, (as with ANY low profile USB hub) care does need to be taken removing connectors when there are others either side of it. That said? The USB ports on this hub are not flimsy, and the connections are secure. Therefore, it'd take quite a bit of mishap/effort to dislodge another connection.
It *is fully plug and play - no reboot required or anything. I connected multiple devices at once - mouse, keyboard, external hard drive, two phones for access to files on them, a USB drive dedicated to ReadyBoost, and one of my security cameras. Being the most 'resource hungry' device I connected, my 4TB drive took the longest to be recognised, though still not a significant delay - i.e. a few more minutes than less resource intensive devices, as one could resonably expect. Mentioned only as something to be mindful of after connecting devices to the hub and experiencing the 'is it/will it work?' wait as things are prioritised by operating system/system settings. While I've had zero problems with anything I've connected? Suggest if device isn't recognised? Try disconnecting/reconnecting, use OS driver update options...and/or the thing everyone seems to loathe doing because it means closing a bazillion browser tabs one's had open for years/multiple apps with multiple unsaved files (or similar) - reboot ;-)
*I highly recommend choosing a hub that has a mains powered option (cable included is icing), because relying on USB power alone isn't the best for responsiveness/performance/battery life/longevity.
Highly recommend this hub - also a very well priced option vs others. Would buy again.
Performance, functionality, value for money - checks all the right boxes as far as I'm concerned.
No cons to note - the following isn't something that's an issue for me personally.
Maybe (maybe) the power cable plug might be too big for some people? Because it IS slightly wider than one socket on a 'normal' spaced power board. However, a power board with wider spaced sockets is an easy fix. Given some/many power cable plugs ARE wider? A power board with additional space between sockets should really be standard kit for anyone setting up a device haven/home office/IT cave/gaming den/whatever. As noted - it's NOT something I consider a deal breaker, especially considering the hub is mains powered, thus the pros are numerous - performance being a major one.

The initial unit I got was faulty and would have connection issues due to loose internals, pretty much useless. After getting a replacement unit, I've had no issues to speak of and it's been a very convenient solution for device management. Not much else to say, does as it should.

Absolutely recommended product as it works as it supposed to be.

This is a terrible product.

First, it sometimes disconnects and reconnects the external hard drives for no reason. I would just get notifications that my drives were disconnected then reconnected.

Second, I connected a flash drive to it then got a message that it was unusable. Then without doing anything, the flash drive was now available. While copying a large file, it then became unusable again. I connected my flash drive to a usb port on my laptop and was able to copy my files without a problem.

Third, the USB dongle for my wireless mouse and keyboard doesn't work well when connected to the J5Create hub. My mouse is erratic and ju...view more This is a terrible product.

I had hopped a powered USB hub would solve this issue.
It looks like the powered USB plug on this hub is power only, not power and data. So this wasn't a solution for me.

I was using this on my PS5 as I needed more USB ports but the hub has connection issues. The main cable is a micro B female and it’s s my opinion that this is the cause of the connection issues as it just had a flimsy connection. It will frequently disconnect the devices I have plugged into the hub. It does have a separate power source so I’m probably just going to use as a charger as one of the ports support fast charging. It works well, although it struggled to run two screens from my laptop (lag/delay on the screens).

I switched the screens so they no longer run through the J5 hub, which fixed the problem.
