Logitech MX Keys S Advanced Wireless Illuminated Keyboard - Graphite

I already have two of the previous version. This purchase replaces the previous version on my home office desk. The displaced keyboard is now in my travel pack. The other one is on my desk at the office that I occasionally visit.

I love these keyboards for work. They're solid, don't flex and have a great feel. A bit heavy for the travel pack, but worth carrying for me so I don't have to adjust to multiple laptop keyboards while writing code.

I love these keyboards for work. They're solid, don't flex and have a great feel. A bit heavy for the travel pack, but worth carrying for me so I don't have to adjust to multiple laptop keyboards while writing code.

The only significant difference with the 'S' variant is that it uses the Logitech Bolt wireless dongle rather than the Logitech unifying dongle, and they aren't compatible which is a pain when your older Logitech mouse doesn't know about the Bolt. You can use bluetooth. I just upgraded my MX Anywhere 3S, and retired a 2S MX anywhere.

The MX Keys S also has a quieter keypress. Useful for me when I wake up in the night and code with lights out (nice responsive keyboard illumination). My partner can't hear my typing 3 metres away, but I can over the keyboard.

The flow feature isn't of much use to me as (like most programmers these days) I work on Linux, and Logitech doesn't support Flow on that. I have to hit a button on the keyboard and on the mouse to jump to the laptop. But using remmina to run RDP to the laptop to get a screen on the main display is easier than fiddling with Flow anyway.

I wasn't sure about the chicklet keys, but as I've also got a small, old Logitech bluetooth keyboard with chicklet keys that I used from time to time and had always found it comfortable to type on, figured I'd try this out.
It's very good - took me a couple of hours to fully get used to it - I'm a ~75wpm trained touch typist and have found my input accuracy and speed has not changed.

Even as a touch typist, I find backlight is good, especially now it is autumn and I find myself in my office in dim lighting.
The keyboard is stylish and slim line, but extremely weighty (which is a good thing).
I think if you are a typist who prefers to have your keyboard raked at a high angle, this might not work so well for you as it does not have any adjustability like most keyboards do. For me, I prefer a slightly flatter keyboard, so this works well. I guess you could prop it up if you needed a higher angle.
Battery life so far has been OK - I fully charged it before use, and after a little over a week, around 60 hours of work time, it is showing 55%. I expect it'll probably improve after the first charge. It can be used whilst charging though so I'm not concerned with a long battery life.
All in all, I'm very pleased with it.

Initially a great keyboard, but it failed within a few months and is now utterly dead. The second Logitech keyboard I have purchased that has lasted far less time than I would have expected.

Love the smart backlit keys that sense your hands before they reach the keyboard as they approach, so you can easily see the keys before you type. The keyboard is also super comfortable to use and I've noticed a reduced error rate in my typing due to the design and indentation of the keys. A real pleasure to use. It is slim so using a mousepad has worked well for me, though you may struggle without one. Only thing to note is that the function keys are combined with the action keys, so if you use F1-F12 a lot you may want to reconfigure the keyboard using the app or invest in a keyboard with separate function keys. I've been using this keyboard for work for eight months and use it with both a MacOS and Windows laptop. Works flawlessly with both (apart from the emoji key, which stopped working in a recent MacOS upgrade). A great choice for people who don't like the feel or noise of a mechanical keyboard. It's quite heavy, so personally I wouldn't be keen to carry it around, but very stable. It has a slight incline, which isn't adjustable, but I've found it to be very comfortable. The battery lasts a very long time. But when it does go flat its just simple matter of plugging in the USB to charge.
Being able to program the function keys to individual programs really comes in handy I love it!
